Ultron's changed origin: Can it work?

The announcement that Joss Whedon will be changing Ultron's backstory for the upcoming 'Avengers'sequel has caused quite a lot of controversy. These are my thoughts on the possibilities of this change on the future of the MCU.

Comic book fans everywhere cheered at the announcement of the title to the 'Avengers' sequel for one particular reason.

That's right, "Age Of Ultron" means introducing one of Marvel's most profound antagonists to the big screen for the first. For all you noobs out there, Ultron is an android which was created by Dr.Hank Pym of the Avengers while he was experimenting in high intelligence robotics. Ultron became sentient, hypnotised Pym then made his escape then dedicated it's entire existence to wiping out the human race.Since then, Ultron has had many encounters with the Avengers and has proven to be quite a worthy foe.

For this reason, the news that the big bad machine will be making it's MCU debut in 'Avengers:Age Of Ultron' in 2015 has nerds and geeks a like cheering. However, shortly afterwards, the announcement came that Ultron's origin story will be changed, mainly Hank Pym won't be involved with it's creation. This left me and countless others disappointed to say the least. Ultron being created by Hank Pym has been a major factor that determines Henry's character.

Sort of like how the death of his Uncle is a defining part of the character of Peter Parker, creating Ultron has been a sense of shame and regret for Henry Pym. Feeling guilty for creating such a threat and being responsible for countless deaths caused by the machine had given Pym a mission of redemption especially since, as he was forced to admit much later, he had used his own brain patterns as the engram basis of Ultron's robotic mind. The guilt had put great strains on Henry's mind and caused him to be mentally unstable at times. Deactivating Ultron has been a constant goal for the Avenger and a defining part of his character. People are assuming that removing Ultron's creation from Hank Pym in the MCU will remove one of the character's most interesting traits. They could be right, but if Joss Whedon does it right, that may not need to happen. Here's my theory on what should be done.

Since Tony Stark is most likely going to built Ultron in the Avengers sequel (or maybe in the upcoming MCU films), that would mean that Henry Pym, if he joins the team could not possibly take that blood on his hands right? Wrong. Stark builds it, Henry upgrades it into an unstoppable fighting machine albeit with good intentions, it goes rogue and Henry is still left responsible. This not only allows for tensions to build between Stark,Pym and the other heroes but also begins their ultimate mission of redemption. The source material can still be there, Tony would just share the blame.

This leaves room for Ultron and Hank's war to be explored and resolved by the third 'Avengers' movie most likely. Thus, the origin story can be changed and fans can still get what they want. If there's one thing Joss has proven himself to be so far, is an expert of knowing what we want. Who knows? This may eventually lead to the formation of a certain group of evil doers in the upcoming Marvel Studios projects...*coughs* masters of evil*coughs*.

Now keep in mind that his purely my own speculation on where these movies COULD head in the future. They may take a different road which will effect the fans for better or for worse. We'll find out soon enough. As usual, sound off thoughts in the comment section.

I have a feeling their gonna change how he's created and dismiss Pym. If they do I really believe Thanos will have a hand in it. Read the comments on the article before this one that talks about the same thing to see why I think that. I'm not typing it again. But it makes lots of sense.

Good article, but Ultron's the villain in this. He won't be connected to Pym. It's to give Tony something to do, considering no more Iron Man suits.
