The folks from Io9 have now weighed in with their coverage from the much-anticipated panel for The Avengers at this year's New York Comic Con. Revealing a few descent lines of dialogue between Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner and Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, not included in earlier reports, read the witty Joss Whedon-written well-paced exchange down below!

UPDATE #1: Fellow CBMer BTSMGL was also in attendance of The Avengers panel, and has thankfully shared a very detailed description of new additional footage clippings screened after the Bruce Banner/Black Widow clip.

"Some new shots featured in the 2nd trailer that came right after the Banner/Widow scene were: Captain America running on top of an NYC MTA bus during the city battle (it looked badass), Loki dressed in a tuxedo (yes, really) hitting somebody with his staff, Iron Man flying up to Stark Tower (the Empire State Building next door) and landing on the helipad, Hawkeye in the city battle shooting his arrows at something, new shots of Thor looking angry at something offscreen (inside the Helicarrier), more random shot of Fury and Widow looking at stuff, some new angles of taxis exploding, and Captain America inside a NYC alley throwing his shield at something offscreen. Oh, another of the new shots was of Stark and Banner in Central Park driving away in Stark's expensive car (from filming last month)."

A little girl runs down the street, through a nondescript Middle Eastern village and into a city. She runs upstairs into a crowded house and starts begging for help from the doctor. The camera pans to reveal Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) standing over a group of very sick patients. He asks if her family has what these poor folks have as well. She says yes and holds up a fist of cash. Bruce follows her.

Cut to Bruce and the little girl standing in front of a rundown shack. She runs forward, but Bruce holds her back and turns around, just as a jeep full of military personnel drives by. Bruce hides his face.

Bruce then follows the little girl into the remote home, far away from the crowded city we saw moments ago and into a shack. He walks through the door just in time to witness the little tyke jump out the window. He immediately knows it's a trap, "Should have got the money up front, Banner."

Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) steps out from behind the shadows. "For a man who's trying to avoid stress, you picked a hell of a place to do it." She's not in her usual Black Widow catsuit. Instead, she's wearing a long dress. She introduces herself as Natasha Romanoff.

Bruce shakes his head, "You brought me to the edge of the city. Are you here to kill me Miss Romanoff? Because that's not going to work out."

"I'm here on behalf of SHIELD."

"What if I say no."

"I'll persuade you."

"What if the other guy says no." (Crowd goes nuts.)

"You've been two years without an accident." They continue to argue a bit and Natasha reveals that Nick Fury needs Bruce's help with a Tesseract rock, which has enough energy to wipe out the planet. They can't find it and they need the best gamma ray scientist for the job. She continues to try to win him over stating, "No one is going to put you in a cage." But at that moment Bruce loses it. "Stop lying to me!" he yells as he slams his hands on on the table. (Crowd goes nuts again.)

Bruce looks up and Natasha has pulled her gun on him. She's terrified.

And then it's a stand-off. Bruce tries to calm himself saying that we can do this without getting "him" involved. Slowly Natasha brings the radio up and orders everyone to stand down. Cut to an aerial shot of the hut surrounded by massive team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, all pointing their guns at the shack.

Marvel's The Avengers is the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner with Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Hiddleston, directed by Joss Whedon, Marvel's The Avengers will be released May 4, 2012.

So does that explain why he has 2 chairs in his hut? (Go back and rewatch the trailer ... one chair is broken...)

It just seems strange to me how someone hiding out, wanting to be alone would have more than one chair. I'm not nit picking, just thinking of possibilities.

"What if the other guy says no?" I want to see this movie NOW. And all that "get him involved" talk is just like Jekyll and Hyde as it should be.

GREAT scene description!! That was like reading a tense little chapter in what I hope will be a cool visual novel. "What if the other guy says 'no'?" That's a funny line but pretty serious, given the stakes involved. This scene reads almost like Tarantino!!! This is soundin better and better..

The part that I don't understand is that Natasha says it has been 2 years since Bruce's last accident. How is that possible when "The Incredible Hulk" leads right into "The Avengers"?

asgardian: no it doesn't, no where has anyone said 'TIH' leads into the Avengers, it happens after Iron Man 2 yea, but we still don't know where Cap's Awakening takes place (most likely after or during Thor)
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 10/15/2011, 7:12 PM
Who ever said that THI lead straight into The Avengers? Just because we see Iron Man approach Ross at the end? So obviously they tried to recruit Banner but he went awol and now they are trying again 2 years later.

sounds really cool. it's going to be hard watching this movie and constantly saying to yourself ... wow, wow, wow Hulk is going to meet Thor, etc. I hope the need for a rock scientist or whatever angle is really just superficial and it's revealed in the movie that Fury wants the Hulk to, well, smash some shit up ... if they are honestly just looking for a gamma scientist and happen to have Hulk on the scene it will be cornball.
brewtownpsych

Check out the link below. It gives you the complete Marvel Cinematic Timeline

http://www.tiki-toki.com/timeline/entry/5395/A-Marvel-Cinematic-Universe-Timeline/

From when the Frost Giants invade the earth in 965 A.D. to the very end when Banner (Edward Norton) discovers that he may have control of the Hulk which was on June 16th 2010, and just before that almost a month earlier on may 23rd 2010 Stark meet gen. Ross about a team (Avengers) that is being put together.

Does that mean after Stark & Ross's meet the Avengers were put together 2 years later??? We will soon find out.

@ThreeBigTacos

in 1942 at the World Exposition of Tomorrow, Queens, New York Dr.Erskine spots Steve Rogers at a recruitment office. at the end of Captain America: TFA Nick Fury tell Cap that it's been 70 years since he had been frozen which means the year that banner/Hulk is recruited may be 2012, which would be 2 years after the "Harlem Incident" with Blonsky/Abomination.

It could be nearly 70 years since the fight between Cap & Red Skull occured around 1944 which was after the Howling Commandos were captured by HYDRA.
