What would be an epic grand finale for the Avengers trilogy

Joss Whedon has said that he wants to "save the big finale" meaning the Avengers vs Thanos, "for the big finale" which means that he will probably be saved for the Avengers 3. The question is what could the "big finale" look like? This is my vision for the big finale.

One of my favorite games of all time is the Facebook game Avengers Alliance. I play it daily as well as go on the Wikia to read up in order to see what comes next.

For those who don't know this game the main story consists of you playing as a SHIELD agent with the purpose of recruiting various heroes like Iron Man, Captain America, Spiderman and the rest to take down the bad guys. The story spans 12 chapters so far with the last chapter being the grand finale for Season 1 with a Season 2 coming shortly.

Throughout the first 11 chapters you fight most of the big name baddies of the Marvel Universe like Red Skull, Green Goblin, Crimson Dynamo, Magneto, and a lot of others. The last chapter, however, has you fighting literally every baddie you have fought so far with the exception of Magneto because you actually get to recruit him in the game as a hero who fights the villains because they have resurrected the Red Skull. This layout is roughly want I see the grand finale being like. Basically Thanos has the Avengers fight every major villain that the heroes have fought in their solo adventures throught the three phases along with their armies like HYDRA army, Chitauri army, Extremis army, and Dark Elves.

If the Avengers survive this enormous challenge then that is when Thanos reveals himself as the one who has been pulling the strings all along. That's when the big finale takes place and something happens that has never happened before in any comic book movie ever: The Avengers lose and Thanos takes over the universe. That would leave room for new heroes to arise from all across the universe to take him down once and for all meaning that their would be many more Marvel movies to come.

I know this is all far-feteched to be sure but Im just hoping that the last battle in the Avengers 3 will be even more glorious than Avengers 1. I think this is the battle that can take place to make that possible.

I like the idea of the Avengers facing all of their foes, but I think that'd be redundant considering that most people believe the Masters of Evil will be used in Avengers 2. I'm also not really with you on the whole "Avengers lose" thing. I don't think the audience would like that very much. Personally, I think they're either going to end it with something like the Kree-Skrull War, Age of Ultron, or Civil War. Personally, I'm hoping for the latter.

if you want them to lose they should do a part 1 part 2 thing where in part 1 they lose and then there is a after credit scene of stark and capt talking to each other about cpt risky plan to win then in part 2 they come back stronger than ever and kick thanos's but.

Have a feeling that Avengers 3 will be a 'movie-version of the Infinity Gauntlet saga, Avengers 2 will probably have Thanos simply pulling the strings again.

I am hoping that GOTG makes big cheddar as I would absolutely love Marvel Studios to tackle the Annihilation, Annihilation Conquest sagas. Obviously the Guardians weren't yet a team during these sagas but maybe they could be rejigged a little or simply made as prequels but they would be awesome!

IMO A3 won't be this "grand finale". They will be teasing us few years. A2 - Masters of Evil, A3 - Kree/Ultron

I don't like the masters of evil idea at all. Why get them all together to see them defeat the same people we've already seen in the solo films? Although, i'd love to see abomination again...

Wait. Hulk decimated chitauri and Iron Man delivered the bomb that won tha battle in Avengers. If Thanos wants to get back at the avengers, have him sen an "emissary" to earth to find their weakness whick leads to the creation of Abomination/extremis hybrids. That'd be more than a match for any avengers team. In the after credits scene, have thanso say something along the lines of going to take care of them himself...

...and then thanos comes to earth in avengers 3.

@Dr Doom - yes it will, RDJ however, will not... He will be well into his 50s by time avengers come out...

Avengers 3, that is. He's 48 right now. Which would put him at 50 for avengers 2... But if connery played bond at that age, i'm cool with downey doing the same for iron man

my question is, who would be in the masters of Evil. I guess you could resurrect Killain/Mandarin, I wouldn't want to see Loki again so switch him out for Malekith, then Have Red Skull be brought back from the dimension he was in, that or Crossbones. A case could be made for Both Abomination or the Leader. Who else? I mean Justin Hammer wouldn't fit, unless they made him the Nick Fury of the masters of evil, but he isn't really evil... Maybe bring back wiplash, but have it to where the suit is bonded to his body. Maybe have Ezekiel Stane want revenge on Tony for his fathers death?

SO Killian
Malekith
Red Skull/Crossbones
Abomination/Leader
Wiplash/Ezekiel Stane

Am I the only one who wants to see Loki in Avengers 2? I'm a Loki fangirl so yeah, I want to see him as much as possible LOL

@AlexanderLykins: I absolutely love your idea!!! It could lead to a separate fight on Asgard with Thor, Odin, Loki, Sif, the Warriors Three, and the other gods of Asgard fighting Thanos thus fulfilling PLUSH's wishes while fulfilling my wishes by bringing back to Red Skull.
