When you saw Anne Hathaway as catwoman for the first time you were likely thinking to yourself "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" or something along the lines of that. So did I, but I looked into it a little more than none at all and here is why you should'nt think that.

1. It went by the file name of "selina_kyle.jpg" meaning this could just be Selina Kyle in a motorcycle outfit with some goggles on and this was just a big tease.

2. If it is Catwoman all we really see is her one arm, a little bit of her chest, her goggles/high tech glasses, and if you look closely, her leg. What this means is that she could have something strapped to her torso that we just can't see since she is laying down on her belly.

3. Maybe it is Catwoman but bear in mind that she is also Catwoman. What do I mean by this, well simply that in her first comic books she didnt have a costume at all, it wasnt until her next appearance that she dawned a cat-like theatrical mask. When Catwoman did dawn a costume it was just a catsuit with little to no functionality.

4. Maybe the suit has more functionality than we see. If the suit is just a suit maybe it's like that on purpose... for a reason. Maybe at the beginning we will see catwoman in the middle of a robbery or something and get to see the outfit in action, which leads me to believe that maybe she could be doing some stunts which she couldnt do in a more practical outfit.

5. The Joker Syndrome. Yeah, I think we all know where Im going with this one. Maybe we are just being judgemental and when the movie comes out we will all see that maybe the suit isnt as bad as we thought it was.

The Dark Knight Rises comes out july 20th, 2012

I am not THAT disappointed - mainly for the reasons you have suggested.

However I am surprised that anyone would have thought the costume would have been all that iconic. From what I recall Scarecrow and Two Face didn't really have costumes - just certain scenes where they became the character.

The Joker is an exception. But even this was toned down to represent the streetwise criminal he was.

I am sure some post-production craziness will be perform in certain scenes to make it more iconic. She is, afterall, Catwoman.

I guess.. But im still dissapointed that she just didnt look more like her leather and goggles. Arkham City sort.

the things is, the goggles she uses in the comics really serve no purpose. They don't do anything cool, they're just a pair of goggles. (as far as i know)

she's a catburglar, she should have high tech gadgets to help her, these goggles being them. Like them or hate them, they make sense.

i can understand people being upset that there is nothing that covers her head with the cat ears or anything, BUT this is just ONE picture where she's riding the batpod, so it can be assumed that this is later in the movie. (unless she stole, because apparently thats what catburglars do. much like corndogburglars lol)

my point is, you can't judge what her costume will look like by this one pic. it doesn't show enough, the context of the pic is not explained, and we have no idea what has happened leading to this scene. so i agree with the article, just for my own reasons. :)

I'm not really disappointed at all. I am glad Warner Brothers is giving us any look at Catwoman and Superman this early on. I'm sure that like Captain America and Batman Begins, her suit will see more than one version over the course of the movie. I'm also fairly certain that her final costume will look like a combination of this suit and the Catwoman costume from the Arkham City game.

I think she looks great. A functional thief. Just curious as to what skills she possesses [ninja training?].

Honestly if this is all her costumes gonna end up being then this is a huge disappointment, but I have a feeling this is probably just an early stage in the evolution of the character, maybe her first big heist or whatever where her persona's just starting to evolve. The costume basically needs the following things to satisfy- 1. a real mask not just goggles 2. better goggles than the ones shes got on here (orange) 3.zipper down the chest 4.a choker would be cool too 5.a whip, come on shes gotta have a whip

Totally agree with the Joker Syndrome.

Like what I see. Won't judge until I see her in a trailer or more pictures. And yeah, if she's really going to pull off the sexiness of Catwoman like previous incarnations I think she should get some boob implants or something.

C'mon, chill out! The same happened to Joker, now Bane and Catwoman. Do you remember Scarecrow's costume in BB? It was simply a burlap sack, but worked far better than a guy dressed up like a scarecrow.
