I've been waiting to talk about Batgirl for SO LONG! This is gonna be more of fangirling than an intelligent conversation, but get you somebody who can do both, right? I'm IndieKid, and this is my appreciation for Batgirl...
So, the idea of Batgirl (Barbara Gordon) is fantastic from the get go. You have the teenage daughter of a police commissioner who's friends with a ninja detective crimefighter in the most crime-ridden city in the world. Imagine what the dinner conversations are like between her and her dad.
But then, let's say this girl becomes a crimefighter herself. Also, she's an apprentice of this ninja detective I mentioned earlier. So, you have the teenage daughter of a police commissioner that's friends with a ninja detective, then that girl becomes a secret crimefighter as an apprentice of this ninja detective. That is amazing storytelling.
Moreover, let's say she grows up as a crimefighter, then a supervillain leaves her paralyzed by walking into her father's home, and shooting her. Now we're asked: how will she be Batgirl the crimefighter? Now she's in a wheelchair. Well guess what; she uses her crimefighting skills in a less physical way, by using her tech skills to fight crime. On top of that, she has a witty, upbeat personality, and is smart as hell.
Do you love Batgirl? If so, then why? Let your thoughts be known in the comments section below.
