Clayface has opened in theaters, and with 76% on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie has earned the approval of most critics. While DC Studios' R-rated horror movie isn't necessarily a critical darling, this response is a big win after June's Supergirl crashed and burned.
Whether it can make the necessary impact at the box office will be determined in the coming weeks. Clayface was never going to do Superman-level numbers, but James Gunn and Peter Safran will want to impress their new boss, David Ellison, with a strong performance.
That's down to them. Today, we're far more interested in hearing what you think. Whether you want to head to the comments section below to share your thoughts on all the biggest moments or simply wish to share your star rating, this is your chance to weigh in.
As a reminder, we concluded our Clayface review by saying, "Tom Rhys Harries shines in Clayface, an uninspired and unoriginal movie that's too light on horror and lacking in comic book personality to be anything but forgettable. It should have been a game-changer for the genre; instead, it's DC's Morbius moment."
That was our take, but again, what did you think? Clayface boasts an undeniably impressive "Popcornmeter" score of 93%, suggesting it's struck a chord with fans, and that too is a big win for DC Studios after Lanterns' portrayal of Hal Jordan split opinions.
Next up for the DCU is Man of Tomorrow, another chapter in the "Superman Saga." Clayface being sandwiched between Supergirl and that may be the palate cleanser many fans needed. Or not. Let us know your thoughts below.
In Clayface, Matt Hagen’s meteoric rise from Gotham street kid to Hollywood leading man is tragically cut short when a local crime boss’s actions leave him horribly disfigured. Abandoned by his team and with nothing left, Matt seeks out a cutting-edge treatment that miraculously returns him to his former self, but also unexpectedly affects his grip on reality, spiralling him down a destructive path of all-consuming revenge.
The movie stars Tom Rhys Harries in the title role of the "cult-favourite" villain from Gotham's rogues' gallery. The cast includes Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella and Eddie Marsan, as well as Nancy Carroll and Joshua James. James Watkins directs from a screenplay by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, with Flanagan also getting a "Story by" credit.
Clayface is now playing in theaters.
