It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.

The Dark Knight Rises was directed by Christopher Nolan, from a screenplay written by Christopher and Jonathan Nolan. The cast included: Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John "Robin" Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate/Talia al Ghul.

Ben Affleck better be able to pull off a miracle, because I think like most fans, I didn't just want more Batman, I wanted more Bale-Batman.

The Dark Knight Rises is my favorite of the trilogy but, Batman Begins is the best of the movies. The Dark Knight is really good but honestly, a bit over rated.

Agreed! Batman Begins is my personal favorite of the trilogy!

Ah, people on this site can't look at a film as a film. I hate how everyone expects a movie with a superhero in it to fall into the category of a "superhero movie". I'm getting tired of this same old formula. Thankfully Nolan got that and made something new rather than just copying The Animated Series.

I hope to GOD that the next Batman is nothing like the Arkham games. We already got that version... IN THE ARKHAM GAMES.

That scene doesn't come close to the genius that was this one:

Just finished watching the trilogy over the course of two weekends, and I gotta say, I agree with Wolvie that BB is the best (his fisrt appearance is in my top 5 favorite CBM scenes of all time) and IMO even though I still like, TDKR is the weakest of the three (sorry Nomis), although I did love Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway in their roles.

And BTW, love the new profile pics @Wolvie and Blackjack

I'll admit, Batman Begin was the one closest to the source, but if that's all you look for in a CBM, you're looking at it wrong.

"great [frick]ing trilogy. All three are my top 3 CBM's of all time. Great performances all around too. I was disappointed that we were never going to see Bale and Cavill together, but it's best for TDKT's story and am excited for Affleck's run. Still, I always have these films on blu-ray and can watch them whenever. In a word, PERFECT!"

You sir have excellent taste. My favorite trilogy to date, superhero or otherwise.

this is the problem..when actors doesn't do audition anymore...how can Ben Affleck doesn't have to go to audition, while Bale, Hathaway, JGL, and the rest have to?

@TheWolverine08

All the scenes you're pointing out are action scenes. I'm speaking from a literary point of view, the themes and messages presented in The Dark Knight surpass any other CBM... but yes Batman Begins IS "cool"

Great gif's. Best comic book movies, ever. Well Batman Begins was really good, just not up to the other two, especially TDK.

SauronsBANE - 10/21/2013, 7:18 PM
GuardianAngel, I completely agree with everything you've been saying so far. These aren't just great comic book movies, they're great movies. Period. Just because Batman Begins is the most "comic booky" of the trilogy doesn't automatically make it the best one. I get this is comicbookmovie.com and all that, but we can appreciate movies for reasons other than that, right?

The themes that Nolan set out to explore in TDK and the way he embodied it in the Joker, Harvey Dent, Batman, etc, and each of their respective mentalities...absolute perfection. Batman Begins had that too, with Ra's Al Ghul, Scarecrow, Falcone, and the theme of Fear, but to a lesser extent.

The themes in each movie: Fear. Chaos. Pain. And the overarching theme that "Batman is a symbol" that exists in each movie. Awesome. Forget about comic book trilogies, in my opinion this is one of the best cinematic trilogies ever.

Well said Sauron. And Batman Begins isn't my favorite of the Nolan trilogy just because it was the most comicbooky. I loved the theme of overcoming your fear and making something greater of it to become a symbol of good have resonated with me.
