New The Dark Knight Rises Set Photo Reveals...The Batwing?!

A new TDKR set photo taken in Pittsburgh earlier today reveals what may just be the new mode of air based transformation we've been hearing so much about lately! Is this the Batwing? Take a look...

Yet another great find courtesy of our friends over at Batman-News! We've already heard rumors about Batman having a new vehicle in The Dark Knight Rises, and could this be it?! It looks like it could be either an aircraft or water based mode of transportation, although the former is far more likely based on what we've been hearing these past few months. Here is the image, but click on the link below to view the full-size version over at the site.

Ross Petrocelli just posted a picture on Twitter of a new vehicle going into the Wabash Tunnel in Pittsburgh. As you can see from the photo, it looks like a cross between the Tumbler and some type of hovercraft. Is this our first look at Christopher Nolan’s Batwing?

STARRING:

Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman
Michael Caine as Alfred
Gary Oldman as Commissioner Jim Gordon
Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox
Tom Hardy as Bane
Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman
Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Tom Blake
Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate
Josh Pence as Ra's Al Ghul

RELEASE DATE: July 20th, 2012

I have 110% faith in Nolan for delivering, but this feels nothing like TDK did when it was being filmed.

Also, this looks more like a piece to the batwing, than the entire vehicle itself!

Here's to hoping though!

Hrmmm, I think it would look better and more believable as a water vessel, but either way it looks pretty sweet :)

looks cool, but doesnt seem to fit Nolans universe. the Tumbler is a believable Tank-like contraption. But this seems unrealistic. Doesnt even look that aerodynamic. hopefully this is just a bad picture or its just something else entirely. In Nolan we trust(?)...

Damn economy! Nolan can't even provide decent security post TDK. Shame on us.

i can tell u guys i had no idea that batpod was was gonna come outta the front of the tumbler in tdk.as a matter of fact its still amazing to this day. if this is true then i can see the tumbler morphing into a flying vehicle for a short period of time(jets need lots and lots of fuel). then again im pretty sure anything we are seeing now will not be in the movie.

Thats the Batwing folks....the Car infront is the Camera Car... and it's on a crane which they'll obviously edit out in post production.

@BooYah lol My thoughts exactly. I'm looking at set photos and footage and I still don't know whats going on. But I guess if anyone could keep an open set secret, it's Nolan. This hunk of metal could be anything.

Looks like a multiple rocket launcher pad.

He called the batcycle the Batpod. So it wouldn't surprise me if he did call this the Batwing.

I think this is awesome!
