POLL: Are You Planning On Seeing THE DARK KNIGHT RISES IMAX Prologue?

POLL: Are You Planning On Seeing THE DARK KNIGHT RISES IMAX Prologue?

Only 42 locations in the US and 4 in the UK are showing the six minute prologue for The Dark Knight Rises, but will you make the journey and pay a few extra bucks to check it out with Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol?

Last week, Warner Bros. released an official announcement highlighting the locations where The Dark Knight Rises six minute prologue will be available to watch. It will be shown only in select 70MM IMAX theaters before Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, but this ultimately means that many won't be able to see the footage despite being located near to regular digital IMAX theaters. So the question is, are you planning on travelling the extra distance to see the preview? Even if you live near one of the few screens showing it, are you interested enough that you're willing to pay extra? Would you rather not spoil six minutes of the movie before next July?!

While it's understandable that Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros. want the prologue to be viewed in the best format possible, it's hard to imagine that they won't release The Dark Knight Rises in regular IMAX theaters next July. Would it really have hurt for them to screen the prologue in those screens too, even if that meant they issued a warning beforehand to make it clear that it wasn't being screened in the optimum format? Be sure to share your thoughts on all this and more in the usual place and check back soon for the results.

STARRING:

Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman
Michael Caine as Alfred
Gary Oldman as Commissioner Jim Gordon
Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox
Tom Hardy as Bane
Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman
Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake
Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate
Josh Pence as Ra's Al Ghul

RELEASE DATE: July 20th, 2012

LMAO@ Intruder

I live close to Indianapolis. I might go see it.
I watched TDK's prologue on youtube, so it's not like ppl will miss out on it.. Unless high resolution is really important to it

I don't have anything against Mission Impossible but I just don't want to see the prologue of a movie I'm going to see next July. I'm just going to watch the trailer and hope that they do a good job of keeping the prologue off the internet.

Don't like the poll. Seems a bit one sided. How about including an option for "I'll see it when it's available online". As much as I'm looking forward to TDKR, I refuse to pay a ton of money to see Ghost Protocol at an IMAX, over an hour away. And I want to see Ghost Protocol too. LOL!!

if a poll like this is posted, wouldn't it make sense to put a link to the locations it will be showing or list the locations? Kind of hard to say whether you will travel the extra distance when the article and poll don't give you the reference as to how far that travel would be. For me, it doesn't matter as I am simply not interested at all, but for others it may make a difference.

Intruder, your such a f.a.g. is your only purpose in life to go around patrolling posts related to DC properties in search of comparison to Marvel entities; and then bash the hell out of it and the people who make the posts? Have you ever re-evaluated ur position in life and purpose on this planet? why the [frick] are you even here making dumb b.i.t.c.h. comments. its people like you that make me wonder how long you've been suckling on the tit of your parents and society. grow a f.u.ckin pair of hairy sack and shut the f.u.ck up with your dumb comments. im tired of reading your pointless trash and trolling on this site. ur a straight up pest and sore for my eyes to look upon....and in the fashion of your style of posting - Marvel sucks, Thor was a decent movie, Ironman was ok, Spiderman sucked ass, wolverine sucked ass, First Avenger was poor, and all Marvel properties before the first spiderman are complete S.H.I.T.!!!!! don't kid yourself kid

I'd love to if it was in my city. I don't think it'll be worth driving all the way to Tampa just to see six minutes of footage that I can enjoy online (though in low quality).

I was willing to drive an hour or so to Fresno, but their IMAX theater isn't with the whole 70mm deal. The closest IMAX theater to me that will be showing the prologue is in Irvine, but that's almost 4 hours from me. Kudos to whoever can make it.

I was really looking forward to seeing Mission Impossible in IMAX anyway, so a prologue for a film Im really looking forward to also in IMAX is just the cherry on top for me.

Did anyone else see TDK in a proper full size 1.44:1 IMAX cinema? THAT is the reason I want to see it and couldnt imagine prefering to see it on youtube. I live 2 hours from london but im going to go to london and make a day of it.

If Mission impossible didnt have scenes in full IMAX i wouldnt be bothering at all.

@tea

ironically that is pretty much imax ratio, lol, im sure they wouldnt look as good on a 20metre tall screen in definition so high you can see their bad up bringing and thus the reason they got into porn/modelling. lol
forthesakeofnow
forthesakeofnow - 12/4/2011, 1:13 PM
@seaman, a hundred miles from manchester means you are pretty much equidistance between there and london doesnt it?

to be honest i think it would be stupid to travel and pay to go see it if you werent interested in mission impossible lol.

im more interested in the imax stuff that will be in mission impossible than the film itself.
marvel72
marvel72 - 12/4/2011, 1:37 PM

i don't think i would go & see it,if it was put on something decent.

the trailer would do for now.
forthesakeofnow
forthesakeofnow - 12/4/2011, 1:41 PM
@marvel72

i get what you mean, im the opposite in that id much rather watch the first 6 mins of the movie which will be constructed like a great short film like with the start of TDK, which argueable will only "ruin" nothing more than the first 6 minutes, than to watch a 3 minute trailer than will give away many major plot points that the prologue wouldnt. if anything the prologue is an extended teaser and id much prefer than to a highlights reel trailer.

plus im not interested in sherlocke holmes 2 so its helpful that the marketing material id prefer to see isnt infront of the movie i dont care about. if u get what i mean.
forthesakeofnow
forthesakeofnow - 12/4/2011, 1:42 PM
id much rather see an avengers trailer than a TDKR trailer, that way people will stop going on about who the villain will be
