THE BATMAN Director Matt Reeves Rumored To Be Looking At Vanessa Kirby For The Role Of Catwoman

With The Batman entering pre-production, we should begin to hear some official casting news for The Dark Knight's villains and supporting characters soon, and one name is already in the mix for Catwoman...

Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible - Fallout, Hobbs and Shaw) is rumored to be one of the actresses Matt Reeves is looking at for the role of Selina Kyle/Catwoman in The Batman.

The report comes from Geeks Worldwide, who reckons the 31-year-old British actress is on Warner Bros. and Reeves' radar, but stress that no formal talks have taken place.

We'll have to take this with the usual grain of salt, of course, but GWW has had some solid scoops in the past and the site was the first to mention that Dark Phoenix actor Nicholas Hoult was a contender to land the lead role of Bruce Wayne/Batman, which was later confirmed by the trades.

At any rate, we should begin to hear more names pop up fairly soon - and not just for Catwoman. If recent rumors are to be believed, the movie is going to feature a lot of The Caped Crusader's villains, including The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and more.

Robert Pattinson will play a younger take on The Batman. The reboot is set to hit theaters in June of 2021.

It's like Matt Reeves is reading my fan-cast between this and Pattinson as Batman. Nic Hoult Riddler next?

@tmp3 - Riddler for Hoult is such a good call, fits better than Batman! Although I would be intrigued to see him go darker

@Bokis - When Nic Hoult is a stoic, good guy hero? Boring.
When he's a strange, dark, weirdo? It works like gangbusters. Dude killed it in Fury Road & The Favourite. He'd be so great as Nygma

I was just talking with some friends a few days ago about who should play Catwoman, and I brought up Vanessa Kirby.

I hope to God this is true.

From rebellious Princess Margaret (who the crown's customs really screwed over) to Catwoman, not bad.

Let's see for how long this rumor goes.

Every rumor and decision about this movie has left me unmoved, so it's a little strange to see some people around here having full-standing orgasms about it.

I'm not upset or opposed or anything, but it just feels like we've done Batman every which way already. When the rest of DC is nailing characters like Shazam and Wonder Woman while Marvel is going full Willy Wonka, the prospect of maybe getting a back-to-basics live-action adaptation of Batman the Animated Series isn't all that exciting to me.

@Spock0Clock - Was trying to find out when I first fan-casted Kirby, and turns out it's from the account I deleted, but I did find this nugget:

So, this is certainly an on-brand take haha

@PeterCipher - Yeah pretty much

It's not a continuation of the very much concluded Dark Knight franchise, so he'll be upset about it no matter what

He has difficulty letting go of the past
