THE BATMAN Faces-Off With The Riddler On New International Poster

We've seen some very impressive posters for The Batman over the past few months, and we can now add another to the stack thanks to a Chinse one-sheet featuring The Dark Knight and The Riddler.

The Batman is now playing in theaters (pretty much) worldwide, but we're still seeing new promotional material for Matt Reeves' critically-acclaimed reboot find its way online.

This latest poster hails for China, and gives us a new look at The Dark Knight (Robert Pattinson) facing-off with the psychotic villain known as The Riddler (Paul Dano), who is reimagined as a relentless serial killer targeting Gotham City's elite.

Dano's take on The Riddler is a far cry from Jim Carrey's spandex-clad version from Batman Forever, and proves to be a genuinely unnerving antagonist for the Caped Crusader.

Have you been to see The Batman yet? If so, what did you make of this new incarnation of The Riddler? You can find out what we though of the movie here.

"Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies — Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis), Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) — amongst the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens."

“When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.”

The Batman is rated PG-13 for “strong violence, disturbing content, drug content, strong language, and some suggestive material.” The movie is set to hit theaters on March 4.

Riddler was solid but felt like something else was missing there. They definitely merged him with Hush too.

My buddy unfortunately passed away in December at the age of 29 (I’m really not an Old Man. I’m 31). He was just as pumped up about this movie as I am. I bought him a ticket in his honor for the show I’m going to in a couple of hours. Within a couple seconds of the purchase his wife messaged me saying “happy Batman day.” My wife was there to witness it. Not sure what to expect after we all pass on, but I’ve been hoping for a sign ever since his passing. I think this was it.

Having given it some thought, this Gotham is such a nightmarish hellscape of corruption that monsters and creatures like Clayface, Killer Croc, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, and ManBat could absolutely exist so long as they were played as legit horror shows. Like ManBat and Croc are predators stalking the shadows. Clayface is paranoia like The Thing and body horror, Ivy could be a poisons expert that could brainwash you with chemicals like a Haitian Zombie or make you die from plants growing out of you mixed with some mad scientist and kill rich people who have hurt the environment in a Riddler type role. Mister Freeze could absolutely live in the walk in freezer of some abandoned building freezing people and performing experiments to save his wife

@noahthegrand - yea I think this is the perfect vision of Gotham and they have a PRIME OPPORTUNITY to inject characters like Clayface, Freeze, Ivy and more into it. The atmosphere Reeves has created is conducive for more nightmarish and strange villains.

Seeing as how they’re probably gonna commit to him driving this batverse for a long time, I would jump at this chance make this flawless depiction Gotham even more perfect and the ultimate take by adding those villains.
