The biggest shoes to fill in history!!!

However, this actor has shown us or better yet proved us in his Sin City performance by blowing us away, that he is the rightful eire to the clown!

i think that arquette guy, not your man from scream his brother (was in pulp fiction for few seconds, wedding singer, sometimes they come back too) would make a pretty cool joker. Not the greatest actor in the world but certainly looks the part, plus i'd bet he could do a cool voice.

IMO I'd rather have a joker look-alike for a quick cameo.

I love the choice and love the sketch even more! but ima have to agree with supaphreak. A quick cameo could be more effective than a new actor portraying Mr.J. for example if the Harley Quinn (who is either a young lady so infactuated with the Joker's killing spree in TDK that she decides to copy him, or is just his sick protege) is turning Gotham into a chaotic blood soaked fun house. Batman and Gordon could visit Arkham and speak through a window into a padded cell. and the audience could see a Joker look a like from behind staring into the corner in a straight jacket impersonating Ledger's J voice saying things like
"What do I have to do with her? I've been standing here the whole time. What have you been looking at?HAHAHA!" or something along those lines.

OMG!!! I LOVE BENICIO DEL TORO!!!! He is such a FANTSTIC actor. Really, IMHO he is a great actor. But to do just a cameo? that would be disappointing. Like a tease. Either do it or not imo. I gotta agree with SupahPHreak about a quick cameo look-alike if they go that direction.

He has been in so many movies, one of my fav being The Usual Suspects. Such great actors in that movie Gabriel Bryne, Kevin Spacey...

SOme of the movies he's done is...

Things we lost in the Fire,The Hunted, 21 Grams, Traffic,The Way of the Gun, Snatch (I love this movie too!!), Excess Baggage (ehhh), China Moon.

BTW...love the art!

I agree w/ supahphreak... to an extent. Joseph Gordon Levitt for a cameo UNLESS he can surprise us like Ledger did. if not he'd be the best look alike for the joker... HOWEVER that is a little belittling to the character and all that jazz that Ledger helped create.

True true, a cameo could do. Show him in arkham talking to Harleen Quinzel. It's a nice setup to introduce her.

I'm not a fan of the cameo idea, i think it would be pointless. I dont expect to see the Joker at all in the next Batman film or so long as Nolan is directing. But if he were to recast the part i think Del Toro would be awesome (especially with the make up, the picture is awesome dude), loved his performance in sin city and in the usual suspects. I also like the Harleen Quinzel idea turning her insane would seem like a natural step for the J-man.

Manofiron he shines in every movie hes in! Seriously, even when the film isnt great he always is. He would be an amazing, but very different Joker than Ledger was. Which is not strictly a bad thing. I think he would be perfect if the next movie was set a good few years after TDK so that The Joker has gone through some changes anyway. Hell hes different in the comics most of the time anyway, even when hes being written by the same people. So i vote Del Toro for Joker..and not just a cameo
Shaman

Well, you see, no body thought that Ledger would've done a good enough performance to mention because of Jack's stellar interpretation. He proved us wrong. He did it in an insanely different manner than what Jack did. So of course Benicio wouldn't give us the SAME Joker but he could prove us wrong again and bring a fresh new spin to the character. In my opinion, he already has proven to have the chops to do Joker justice. And like Roar said, Joker is never the same in any comic. So i wouldn't mind a different joker.

As for the cameo idea, for the next film i'd be TOTALLY down with it, it is of course THE ONLY way of bringing in Harley in "The right way". Then he could break out of arkham in the forth having to deal with the new crew in town, the black mask's crew. I think it would be amazing but of course Benicio wouldn't do a cameo unless he was garanteed a huge role in the 4th. But i say it could be done. His part in Sin City was stellar yet very small and he did it none the less.

Thanks to everyone!!!

I dont know about that...I mean come on Christopher Nolen made the joker so dark that Heath Ledger couldnt take it, do you honestly think anyone else is going to be able to stand up to his same standard? I dont think So!

Great Pic Shaman and Great Pick! HAHA Anyway I don't know why I never though of it before but he would be an awesome Joker especially to fill in where Ledger left off.

Shaman - 4/23/2009, 1:54 PM
GhostArtist1990- What do you mean ledger couldn't take it??? I felt he did fine. And in no way was his performance "unmatchable". And like i said, i wouldn't mind Benicio taking Joker for a spin of his own.

LastSon1027- thanks dude!

First Shaman amazing pick, you are always spot on and have amazing artistic abilities.

Ghostartist1990: If by saying he "couldnt take it" you mean his death i dont think that has anything to do with it. All of the cast said he had a lot of fun with the character, his death was because he mixed sleeping pills and alchohol which isnt a smart move, whether he did it on purpose or by mistake we may never know. If thats not what you meant then i apologize for inferring incorrectly.

I think del torro could pull it off, i disagree on the thought of just a cameo with nothing coming out of it. Batman needs the joker, in one of the comics robin acutally comments that the joker and batman need each other, its kinda a wierd symbiotic relationship. I think he should have an integral part in almost every batman film, maybe not as a main villian, but playing behind the scenes. I think ledger was a great actor and his portrayal of the joker was awesome, but i dont think the character should just be buried or limited, there is always the chance that some one will not be able to top his performance, a very likely chance, but if the person is a solid actor, like del toro, then i think we would get a joker that would do well in the universe nolan has created.
THEHAWK
THEHAWK - 4/23/2009, 7:15 PM
I don't like Del Torro, but I could see him portraying a rather unique Joker. It doesn't have to be like Heath's, in the comics the Joker had completly different personalities in back to back issues. I think the best way to do it would be to give him and Harley a brief cameo at the end of the film, setting them up for the sequel. I did that at the end of my last fan fic if you want an example.

Grizzly- Thanks for the great compliment and i agree with your point about Joker. It would be great to always have him behind the scene kinda like Lex in Superman. Doesn't have to be the main villain :)

Good point Hawk and yes, you should all go check out his story :)

THEHAWK - 4/24/2009, 5:12 PM
Thanks Shaman, glad you liked it. Most likely Wb will continue the franchise after Nolan's departure, I think they will convince him to do a 4th, but that may just be a pipe dream. If another director takes over we may see the return of the Joker.

HAWK out.

If they were to bring him back, I think he would be a great pick to reprise the role, but to be honest, it's time to move on. There are plenty of great Batman villains that can be done.

A quick cameo would be cool; kind of like the Scarecrow in the Dark Knight.
KEROSENE
KEROSENE - 4/25/2009, 11:19 AM
i would think that the role of the joker would only be able to be reprised after nolan leaves the films. del toro is a great choice, creepy, and has the acting chops to pull it off. i would personally like to see my orriganal pick to play the joker if they ever did make another movie with the joker in it. crispin glover.
ElBeaster

I still like James Franco as the Joker. He's a really great actor and it seems that he's trying to shake the role of Harry and really trying to have people see him as a respectable actor. So, I think that he would put everyting into this role and really do an awesome job. Del Toro is a sick choice too though.

If not those two I'm going with Ben Foster. He doesn't look the part, but some face paint and latex could fix that. He plays crazy so amazingly in almost all of his roles and does it so differently everytime. Just watch 30 Days of Night, 3:10 to Yuma, Hostage, and Alpha Dog. He's great in the Punisher too.

So Franco, Foster, and Del Toro would all do great IMO.

"I have a question for you ... . . . Do you go about your life and just randomly stuff pops in your head or what?!? Cause to me your hitting the nail every f##&?»* time!!!!"

I know right, he's good at what he does...

I would actually prefer they not make any more Batman movies for a while. Dark Knight was such a huge hit for me, that it should be known as the one they just couldn't follow up on.

On the same note though, I am now interested in seeing what a Del Toro Joker would be like. Maybe a screen test or the like.
Shaman
Shaman - 4/27/2009, 6:35 AM
Hawk & Macksimus- That's what i'm thinking too, for us to see joker again, they'll need another director. Which i'm almost convinced we'll be getting. And like Macksimus said, there are plenty to work with aside from Joker.

KEROSENE- Glover might be able to bring us a good joker but i've never been a fan of his work that much.

ElBeaster- Se now, Franco, Foster and Levitt are all actors that i will forever percieve as "teenagers" and i don't like to have all my favorite characters from the comics turn to teens. Of course they are all stellar actors and would do a great job as joker but to me they'll never fit unless they get to 50 years old or somethin.

FalconX2- Thanks dude :) Yeah, TDK is a tough act to follow. And if they didn't make it to be followed, i'd agree with you. But now, it would leave the franchise lacking imo. And to be able to see a screen test of Benicio as the Joker would totally make my day :))

WeaponXX- LOL Well to finally answer your question: Yes it does LOL :P Don't ask me why though LOL I do sometimes come up with bad pics like my "Alison Hannigan for MJ" that obviously didn't make sense LOL :P
ElBeaster
ElBeaster - 4/27/2009, 1:37 PM
I don't see Foster as a "teen actor" because of his amazing choice of roles recently. And I think that Franco is just starting to break away from that, but I thought that I would forever see Ledger as a gay cowboy until he did The Joker. Now that's all I picture him as. It only takes one incredible performance to change how someone is percieved as an actor. I think that either one of them would do a great job.

But I kind of agree with Falcon X2. I would have been extremely excited for another Nolan Batman flick, but now with Heath Ledger's death I'm not so sure. Cuz' they need the Joker in the next movie, but I can't think of anyone who could match his performance. I say just wait a few years and see what Zach Snyder can do with The Dark Knight Returns...

shaman-

i understand your opinion on glover, as i get that alot from all my other fellow fan boys that i disscuss with, i chose glover based on the limited performances i've seen him in. however, within those performances (from charles angels to back to the future) shined a versitile experienced performer with the ability and definately the look. i always thought the joker could finally be his defining role, as it truly was ledgers imho.

however, i do still understand you and my fellow associates, and have a second choice. paul bettany.
KEROSENE
KEROSENE - 4/27/2009, 2:24 PM
also, has anyone tossed around the idea that after nolan's run is done bringing in rob zombie to direct. possibly a two movie run of either the killing joke, or darkest night?
Shaman
Shaman - 4/27/2009, 6:50 PM
I actually have an article on it where i suggested Paul W. Anderson for the follow up. Rob Zombie could do well.

I'd rather see Glover as joker but Bettany would be perfect as Mr.Freeze!!! Thanks Kerosene, you just gave me an idea for my next sketch!!! :))
