Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, The Boys) seems to be a fan-favorite choice to suit-up as the next big-screen iteration of Batman in the DCU, and the actor has now weighed-in on the possibility...

The Batman: The Brave and the Bold casting rumors haven't really begun to pick up steam just yet, but one name that has been mentioned in connection with the lead role of Bruce Wayne/Batman is Jensen Ackles.

Though it seems more like speculation than a solid rumor with anything behind it, the former Supernatural star does appear to be someone quite a few fans of the character could get behind as the DCU's new Dark Knight.

Ackles, who also plays Soldier Boy on Prime Video's The Boys, was asked about potentially donning the cape and cowl for The Brave and the Bold at a fan convention over the weekend (via Screen Rant).

After a bit of banter with the crowd, the actor made it clear that he would jump at the chance if the opportunity arose, but pointed out that "no conversations" are happening right now thanks to the WGA strike.

"I don't know. Even if I knew, I wouldn't tell you. I mean, could I do it? Sure. Would I wanna do it? Yes. Will I be mad when Pedro Pascal gets it? Yeah. God bless you, Pedro. You just keep killing it, buddy. Let me know when you pass on something. Look, right now nobody's talking about anything. There's a strike going on in the entertainment industry, and until that gets solved, nobody is having conversations about anything. Would I entertain the idea of playing my favorite superhero of all time? Nah, I'm good (laughs)...sounds like a lot of work. I would love it. Sign me up."

Do you think Ackles would be a good choice to play Batman in the new DCU?

The Flash director Andy Muschietti will helm The Brave and the Bold. The film doesn't currently have a screenwriter attached, but it has been confirmed that The Flash scribe Christina Hodson was "circling" before deciding to work on a Fast and Furious movie instead.

Along with a new take on the Dark Knight, The Brave and the Bold will introduce a very different Robin in the form of Damian Wayne, a "murderous tween raised by assassins who also happens to be the son Batman never knew he had."

@dracula - I mean he’s a good actor that’s all you really need, as long as he’s in shape he’s fine, Batman never needs to be a extremely famous actor

@dracula - exactly what I came to say. Think they'd make a great pair. Doubt it'll happen, but maybe in S&L's final season?

@dracula - I can imagine Jonathan seeing in Bruce a mirror in which to look at himself. A man who has no powers, but he is a hero. Jonathan might admire him and they develop a friendly relationship.

So Clark tells Bruce to stay away from Jon because the people around Bruce end badly.

If he was 10 years younger, he would be perfect, but at 45...nah, that's actually older than Affleck when he was casted, and barely 5 years younger than he is now...if you want a Batman that "old", just keep Affleck around (not saying you should).

@TheHumanSpider2 - with it being a Brave and the Bold adaptation and Damian being 13 in the story it makes sense for Batman to be in his 40s and seasoned. I'd be ecstatic with more Affleck, but Jensen would be a really good alternative.

Can't realistically have a 25 year old Batman with a 13 year old kid. As well as the rest of the Bat-family

@l0rdleg0las - If in 2013 Batman being 15 years older than Superman was a problem, in 2023 Batman being 20 years older than Superman is an even bigger problem.
If the actor playing Clark is in his late 20s, the actor playing Bruce should be in his early 30s.

Again, if they are ok with that, Affleck is barely 5 years older than Ackles, just keep him around, but then they should complain when audiences reject such an "old" Batman.

@l0rdleg0las - No but you could realistically have a 31 year old Batman with a 13 year old kid. Also Damien could be younger than 13 even. He was 9 or 10 when they first introduced him in the comics, so Batman could still be 25-30 and have a 9 year old kid.

Not sure what the age of consent is in Nanda Parbat or wherever, but Damien's conception wasn't consensual anyway, so...

But I suppose it would be less palatable to an audience if he was raped when he was under 18 than if he was raped when he was over 18, so I guess he could still be 27 and have a 9 year old Damien.

@ObserverIO - Exactly, and considering Bruce was pretty much drugged when Damian was conceived, that is rookie mistake a Batman in his early 20s would make...granted, you are altering the canon a bit by having Bruce being Batman before being 27, but lets say he spent that night with Talia when he was 22, you can have Damian being 13 and Bruce being 35.

@TheHumanSpider2 - I thought the same thing, but Jensen can easily pass for a 35 year old. He looks quite young for his age.

@TheHumanSpider2 - He could have conceived Damien while training with the League of Shadows.

@ObserverIO - That's a pretty good idea, but is too similar to what Nolan did, I dont think they are making that (nor are they calling them "League of Shadows").
Again, its a pretty good idea, but I dont think they are doing the same thing Nolan did.

@sully - Yup, I though he was 35-38, was surprised to learn how "old" he is...problem is, age is eventually catching up.

@PlusUltra - Why are they making a Batman movie?

@PlusUltra -

Because Reeves won’t connect his Batman just like Nolan wouldn’t. You know WB tried.
I personally think Pattman would be perfect for a shared universe since he’s young and just started. I think Batman brave and bold should be postponed. Let Reeves finish his trilogy and then introduce his Batman I to the wider universe afterward. Everyone wins.
