VIDEO GAMES: WB Confirm That ARKHAM WORLD Tease At VGA's Was Just "Good Fun"

When The Joker accepted the award for "Character Of The Year" at the VGA's last weekend (which you can watch here) he seemed to reveal the title of the next Batman game from Rocksteady. Well, not so according to the studio.

During The Joker's acceptance speech at Spike TV's Video Game Awards on Saturday, the appearance of a script entitled "Arkham World" resulted in many jumping to the conclusion that that would be the title of the next game. Well, VG 24/7 reveal that Warner Bros. today issued a statement to them making it clear that it was indeed nothing more than a joke: "What was referenced in the acceptance was added in good fun only." Here's the clip of the Joker (voiced brilliantly by Mark Hamill) which caused so much excitement.

Arkham world would be weird. Maybe just a "Gotham City" to finish up or have some new missions like Hush, Scarecrow, Killer Croc. Maybe throw in some other campaign missions from other characters that people have wanted like Robin and Nightwing.

Hell.. I just started playing Arkham City! lol These games are great though. First video games I've taken to in quite some time.

I knew this was a joke... Arkham World would be near impossible to do, unless they selected specific global locations... I want Gotham City to be the next direction with the ability to travel in your batmobile... You can even use the "whistling" button on Red Dead Redemption to call your car... A sonar calling would be awesome!!!

Ha-ha they say its all in good fun but I bet this is where they go next...I mean how could they not...Arkham city was great but just not enough world to run around in...not enough regular crime to fight...

When youve got a world map gotham equal the sandbox style of the spiderman games that allows you to stop regular crimes and drive the batmobile...let me know...

Anybody have an idea how RockSteady could do a Superman game. They said earlier they may have reached their limitations with Bats. I got the game on Black Friday and right now I'm about 40% through the main story. Game is friggin sweeeeeeeeeet!

I just want to be sure there is another one. I am just about finished with Arkham City and it is a GREAT game! I would love to see them make a game besed in Gotham next. With a huge break from Arkham City into the streets of Gotham. Crime everywhere, Innocent people in harms way, etc... That would open up a far larger playable area.

Also, while we are on the wish list ideas... Coop/multiplayer (not mmo) where you can be either (Batman, Robin, Nightwing, or Catwoman) and have two players working together to achive things. Have the game set up so certain Riddler trophies can only be gotten in Coop mode, but they are still visible in the single player game. The trick is, no split screen crap. This would be online gameplay. Thus adding an entirely new level to the game.

If there is any sequel to the Arkham City game it would have to focus on HUSH cuz that was the twist or cliff hanger that was left towards the end of the game. Besides the fact Joker was killed, the story for a sequel would have to focus on HUSH with at least Azrael in it.

sequel should have riddler, hugo strange, ras al ghul, hush and red hood form an alliance to take down batman. whats the common thread? they all know bruce wayne is batman. and the alliance would have been secretly formed by none other than **SPOILER ALERT** BANE!! bring back the joker to throw a monkey wrench into everyone's plans and you've got yourself a nice little game. make it open world gotham if you can (while miantaining the quality of the graphics) and have streets where you can drive the batmobile and the batpod. or just side missions that involve doing only that. like the scarecrow levels in AA or AR flight simulations in AC.

A mate of mine works at Rocksteady, and I saw this person a couple of days ago. They said that they have not started an AC sequel at all, what they ARE working on is DLC episodes with Robin. Beleive it or don't.

Figured as much! Arkham World was a strange title, but I definitely want a sequel. Lets bring on some two player co-op/split screen and on-line. Let's adapt No Man's Land and maybe even Knightfall into a video game story.

@Jer3miah, they will stop making Arkham games when people stop buying them. If they can still make games in the "Final Fantasy" series (24 years and 14 games later), then Arkham could go on for decades. It only a futile gesture to say no more games.

@Prot3ctor That'd be amazing. I'd love to see that with *Spoilers?* Hush, maybe starting off the game, and him taunting you from the beginning. Not an anti-climatic fight like Two Face though.
