Zack Snyder Drops BATMAN/SUPERMAN Tidbits; Charity Artwork Debuts

Those of you that just watched the Man Of Steel live fan event will know that we didn't really get any big reveals about "Batman VS. Superman", but there were a few interesting hints and tidbits from Snyder. Plus, we did get some artwork..but it's NOT official movie concept art.

Okay so there wasn't any major Batman'Superman related announcements made on the Man Of Steel live event (although director Zack Snyder did share some interesting thoughts on the first film) but here is what we did get: Snyder MAY have confirmed that Lex Luthor will indeed feature in the next movie when he and Kevin Smith were discussing Kal El's extra terrestrial origins. "Lex loves calling him an alien", he says with a grin. Now he might be referring to the character in general...guess it depends on how you want to take it. Much more interesting is a comment from the director when quizzed by Kevin Smith as to the relationship between Batman and Superman that we'll see in the movie. “They’re friends and then they fight... there will be some physical conflicts”, he confirms. Sounds like Bats is gonna need to break out those Kryptonite gloves! So not TOO much, but something at least. We also got the below artwork, which are not official concept designs, but were commissioned by Snyder for the We Can Be Heroes charity organization under the "Batman VS. Superman" title-- but it's unlikely that these images with influence the movie. You can bid on the art HERE.

doubt this art is related to the actual look. Wrong batman symbol and superman shield.

Sounds like the title will be Batman vs Superman or better worlds finest: Batman/Superman.

As much as i hate the title, that is one major marketing tool!!

Smith straight up lied. Unless I missed the "announcements" he said there would be. But I watched it all. I feel duped. It's not that I have to wait till sdcc to see something. Just hate being lied to.

I speak out of context in regards to the movie, but strictly to the style of design for the second art.I think an old Batman facing off against an old Joker,is proper.Very much like old Superman facing off against Lex.Cause the battle between these heroes and their villanous counterparts are infinite, and i see them fighting until they're grey.Anyway that's how i observe the art, cause to me it suggest their battle is not temporary. That's my half-full/half- empty observation.Love both arts.

Snyder commissioned the artwork for the charity under the title "Batman VS Superman"..so in that way it is tied to the movie, BUT no it's not official concept art.

The more I hear about this movie, the more worried I become. "They're friends... and then they fight." What????? Completely backwards. It should start off with them fighting because they misunderstand one another, and then they realize that they are both fighting for the same cause. The result would be a team up against a common threat. I am a huge Superman fan, and if this follows Miller's twisted take on Superman from The Dark Knight Returns, then I simply will refuse to watch this movie.

Major FAIL... The more I heard, the more it seemed like they just don't GET IT... Yet WB has trusted them with these characters. *sigh*

Here's what I think the deal is. Snyder doesn't like superman; he would rather deconstruct superheros as he did in Watchmen. So when he creates a Superman movie, he gives his deconstructed version of the hero. It's like when someone buys you a present, but its a present that the gift giver really wants for himself. That's who Snyder is.

Remember how they said they might be changing the suit? I was watching Man of Steel last night (Got it early on digital from Vudu) and I said to myself: What if it isn't a change in suit, but the color of it. Imagine if the suit was dark because of how long it was in the ship, and as time went by the suit kept getting brighter. Just an idea.

Snyder (and most people) believe the only way to portray Superman is to make him more like US... when really the idea of the character is that he's the BEST, most moral superhero... The ONE everyone aspires to be. Corny as it sounds.... I hate that we're expected to believe the he would cause all that destruction and snap a villain's neck bc it's his first time "on the job". That's just some lame, fanboy logic. This franchise deserves better.
BIGBMH
BIGBMH - 11/9/2013, 11:55 AM
Why would they be friends then fight? There's no foundation for there relationship like there was in Dark Knight Returns. This is their first meeting. It's much more logical that their personality differences would cause a great amount of friction initially before they develop an understanding and respect for each other.
Prime
Prime - 11/9/2013, 11:58 AM
Why would they fight anyway? To prove who has bigger fanboys?

I'm 100% agree with you, but I have a lot of hope for the Zack Snyder's intelligence. He will not make a bad use of Superman, he says "Respect the S" and I believe he can do a great job with the two legends without humiliate the man of steel for the bat coolness.

Friends can have differences and friends do fight from time to time. I don't think they'll just be friends when they first meet, but that they feel each other out first, get to know each other, then an issue or event happens and that divides them. How or what is unclear at this time, could be Batman fighting a mind controlled Superman or it could be a serious incident that divides them. Or it could just be taken out of context and Snyder gave us nothing. We'll have to wait and see.
