Over the past few years, comic book movies have made their presence known in more ways than one. So, when a year like 2016 has about over half-dozen comic book movies set to be released, of course, these films would take over social media. According to Variety, DC Films have taken over social media as the most-anticipated and talked about movies of 2016. Variety has teamed up with ListenFirst Media to figure out which films are the most talked about. In order to get these results Variety and ListenFirst Media use Digital Audience Ratings (DAR), which measures what fans are talking about most across all major digital platforms. ListenFirst Media's DAR focuses on what films fans are talking about most through Facebook, Google+, Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, YouTube and even Wikipedia.

As you can see below, Suicide Squad leads the top five, followed by Deadpool and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. There seems to be no sign of Captain America: Civil War, but that could possibly be due to the lack of noise heard from Marvel lately. Should Marvel release a trailer, it's most likely the film would take a spot amongst the top five and maybe dethrone the other CBMs. Let us know what you think in the comments section below!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters March 25th, 2016.

Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before. Starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, and Holly Hunter, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is directed by Zack Snyder, written by Chris Terrio from David S. Goyer's screenplay.

Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5, 2016.

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Suicide Squad stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, with Raymond Olubawale as King Shark, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and Adam Beach as Slipknot. Directed by David Ayer.

This news is great for DC....Love Marvel as well but DC my is #1.....(60/40 DC)

Suicide Squad is opening in August and doing amazing numbers...Hopefully BvS & SS do really well at the BO...then we'll have the whole DC universe upon us on Screen...

I'm just dreading the discussions about which movie makes more money. It doesn't freaking matter, just so long as the movies (both DC and Marvel) are good and make enough to warrant more great sequels, I'm game.

It's DCEU time to shine. It's new and it's good to have a change. The GE wants something new other than Marvel. It's good for CBM... Cannot wait for BvS and SS...

Come one guys to be fair to Civil War....they have only released a teaser trailer and that was a few weeks ago!

I am sure they will show up on the list as soon as they release another trailer.....the question is when.

I wonder if Marvel would blow a wad for a SuperBowl spot.............

I think is a matter of, one, Deadpool and BvS are close to coming out and two, DCEU has to push their films with a marketing campaign that's a little excessive because their BRAND NEW. Their gonna lead the social and digital tracking easy because they're statring off their universe and have to create awareness. Marvel doesn't need to do that. They've been out for nearly a decade and are so much ingrained into the cultural zeitgeist that people will see an MCU film once it's close it coming out. Damn it, my mom makes it a habit of seeing them and she doesn't like superheroes all that much. But she know she wants to see it cause she enjoys the films ever since she gave Iron Man a chance back in 2008. Marvel is a cultural mainstay. No need to push a films marketing until maybe a month or two before debut. Name recognition alone helps too. I think Marvel will start pushing Civil War Super bowl Sunday. Marvel is the veteran who's been in the game for a while. They aite lol.

LOL

I'm excited for both. Happy to see Suicide Squad is on top!!!!! I think it will be immensely better than BvS. Im excited for BvS, but you know what you're getting there.
