Henry Cavill On The Chances Of A MAN OF STEEL Sequel: "He’s A Tough Character To Tell"

In another new excerpt from Entertainment Weekly's Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice interview, actor Henry Cavill reveals whether or not we could possibly see another standalone superman film on the big screen, after the release of the next film. Hit the jump to check it out!

Henry Cavill in a previous interview already revealed that Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice is NOT a Superman sequel, instead it's an introduction for Batman. With that said, Cavill, while sitting down with Entertainment Weekly, revealed whether or not we will see a superman sequel someday. "There’s plenty of time for individual Superman sequels." He then elaborated, and told the challenges they might face with character going forward, if the film were to be made. “He’s a tough character to tell. People like the darker vigilante. I think it speaks to the human psyche more easily rather than the god-like being that we can’t really understand."

So, is that a no to the sequel? Of course not! Cavill also added that once the DC Universe expands, they should be able to dive into Superman's character much more. "Once we have a more expansive universe we can delve more into the character of Superman and hopefully tell more stories."

So, if another standalone Man of Steel film were to be made, would Metallo be the main villain, like Snyder and WB once had planned? Who knows? Also, after the release of Batman v Superman, will a standalone Batman film be announced? I'm sure we'll hear a lot of news come SDCC '15! What do you think? Sound off below with your thoughts!

Superman's not that hard of a character to understand. People only say shit about him because of his powers but Clark Kent is really no more relatable than Peter Parker.

Superman thinks himself as a human. He was raised by humans, went to school with humans, works with human. While he is an alien and accepts it, he still think of himself as humans.

The people of Metropolis think of him as an alien and a God. Not a human.

That's the way to tell Superman stories.

The key is that he has one of THE coolest splits in any comic book character - Superman can absolutely be interpreted as the godlike being that is absolutely incomprehensible for any mere mortal to understand. No trouble there.

But Clark is our window into the character and so it's his inherent humanity that really makes him so compelling. I'd like BvS to further delve into both sides of him after really not focusing on Clark as a person in MoS, but maybe that's something that'll only be picked up in whatever future Superman sequel we eventually get.

George Miller should direct a Superman sequel. Hell George Miller should direct every movie ever from now on.

Didn't WB confirm a solo superman movie was coming in the slate they announced? Along with a solo Batman movie? We just don't know the release dates for them yet. *Cough Comic Con Cough*

@SauronsBANE

yes! the "in" to Superman stories is his dual identity, his 'false' connection to humanity via Clark (which is the "real" him? Superman 2 did a great job exploring this) , his sense of impossible responsibility, solving problems which should be unsolvable.... ugh, Superman is always my #1 fave character but it drives me crazy when creators, and this happens in comics too, seem to miss all the core concepts of what makes his stories so unique & compelling.... e.g. "All Star Superman"

No! We already have a darker vigilante, that's Batman. We need that godlike being to contrast between the two iconic superheroes. He can be just as complex and interesting.

Is it just me or is Henry slowly starting have doubts about his own character?

First he says that BvS was a Superman movie, then he moves on to say it's about Batman's introduction.

Now, he's saying it's hard to do a Superman movie, when he use to stress that Superman can be very relatable.

There WILL be a Man of Steel sequel, the movie made almost 700 million and Superman is still one of their most beloved and popular characters. Also I agree with @Nomis, Man of Tomorrow would be a great title
