Kevin Smith Denies Writing Fake BATMAN v SUPERMAN Script

Kevin Smith promised to address last week's rumors involving him writing a fake Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice script and now he has. You can read most of his letter below, which he posted on his website, silentbobspeaks.com. There's a plug at the end of his letter for his upcoming movie Tusk, including a poster. Click on the source link to view that.
There’ve been a few movie websites reporting I might’ve been involved in a BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE misinformation campaign, at the behest of Warner Brothers, director Zack Snyder and producer Chuck Roven. The idea was that everything I’ve ever said about the forthcoming big screen team-up of the World’s Finest is a carefully constructed web of intrigue to throw movie sites off the real track.

Since last year at this time, I’ve been enjoying an unexpected period of prolificacy with screenplays. It all started with CLERKS III and was followed by me finishing nearly 5 scripts in a year, including the fall release TUSK. After TUSK, I penned ANTI-CLAUS (formerly COMES THE KRAMPUS) and a sitcom pilot that’s now seeing some action (both co-written with Professor Andy McElfresh from the EDUMACATION podcast). Then I wrote YOGA HOSERS and now I’m in the middle of MOOSE JAWS.

However, none of those has been a fake BATS v SUPES script. C’mon, kids… No major studio would let a guy like me near their franchises – even if it was for a dummy script meant solely to fool the news sites. (Don’t know if it’s true or not, but this Twitter user is claiming credit for a fugazi script that’s currently being reviewed online.)

No, anything I’ve said about “Milo and Sage” was based on an image Zack showed me while hosting a MAN OF STEEL online event at Yahoo many months back. The little I know of the flick beyond that I learned from some cats involved (though never BatFleck himself; as I’ve said a few times now on the Babble-On podcast, beyond email, I haven’t spoken to Ben in years). Fun story, though.

BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE - Zack Snyder will direct. It's written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer. The film stars: Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent and Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne. The cast also includes: Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Ma Kent, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince. Will arrive in theaters May 6, 2016.

That script was definitely fake, but there were some cool parts in it. I wonder who the hell actually wrote it?

@TheAmbassador A guy on twitter (showed in the article) is claiming to have written the fake script that everyone is talking about. So EVERYTHING that's been rumored over the past few weeks is wrong.

Thank God, that script was absolute garbage. Like Man of Steel all over again.

And while on the topic, why do people seem to have to much faith in this Chris Terrio guy, he's written just one film, which was a direct adaptation.

I didn't read it, but from some of the comments I saw, it seemed pretty fake...

So, El Mayimbe didn't get trolled by Kevin Smith, he got trolled by some random Twitter user...

I read it. I hope that 1) he's lying or 2) someone else wrote it, but if it is real.....than we're [frick]ed!

Why does everything have to be so damn obscure?!

It's absolutely fake, nobody needs to worry.

I trust El Mayimbe's sources and he has been on a roll but c'mon *facepalm*...

You can't trust random scripts and hand out information from them as SCOOPS lol

So, does this mean we need to dismiss almost every story detail we've gotten so far?

None of this makes any sense....why didn't KS just come out and say he didnt do it, instead of being obscure twice and making everyone wait?!?!

Well what's interesting is that in every single rumor theres is always one constant that remains. "Superman's Death". So I think that is a real aspect of the film.

This is the guy who started the hoax:

Did every rumor come from the script?

"Thank God, that script was absolute garbage. Like Man of Steel all over again."

and yet they DID produce Man of Steel... so that doesnt say much about this one being fake

@DaVinci: A lot of what El Mayimbe has been reporting came from the script.

I think it's hilarious that ElMayimbe was duped. I read the script. He literally cut and pasted the "character descriptions" he got from the script. EVERYTHING, from the Lex Luthor Metropolis Tattoo to Amanda Waller being in the movie. I got BANNED from Latino Review for saying that the Gang member Lex Luthor was BS!
