Next year has the potential to be the best year in comic book movie history. Some of that is wishful thinking, the other half of that theory is based on 2016 featuring Batman and Superman sharing the same screen, Tony Stark and Steve Rogers finally putting the gloves on and going a few rounds, and Deadpool’s rating R release can potentially flip the genre on it’s head (in a good way).
There’s lots to hope for when it comes to the releases below. While fanboys everywhere keep their fingers crossed that their favorite heroes bring their A-game, I’m more interested in finding out which letter grade my favorite villains will pack.
Deadpool: Feb 12, 2016
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice: March 25, 2016
Captain America: Civil War: May 6, 2016
X-Men: Apocalypse: May 27, 2016
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows: June 3, 2016
Suicide Squad: August 5, 2016
Gambit: Oct 7, 2016
Doctor Strange: Nov 4, 2016
Doomsday was met by loads of boos which drowned out the horrible Mark Zuckerberg impression by Lex Luthor in the latest Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice Trailer.
Captain America: Civil War’s villain may be the biggest bad guy for 2016 and the biggest good guy — depending on which side you’re on.
Judging from the trailer, Apocalypse may put 3 or 4 more X-men in a wheelchair. I’ve been waiting to see this guy on the big screen since the early 2000s and with Bryan Singer behind the camera, I’m pretty sure he won’t disappoint.
Although she may be a secondary villain, she’s still liable to steal the show when Deadpool hits a theater near you February 2016.
It sucks batting behind Heath Ledger’s Joker. I’m rooting for Jared Leto and we’ll see what this new Joker’s made of in WB’s Suicide Squad.
Bebop and Rocksteady will either make or break Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows
We’ll have to wait to see more concept art and casting news for 2016’s Doctor Strange and Gambit films. I wouldn’t be surprised if the villains make a huge splash, but then again — I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t.
Who do you think will be the best villain to hit the big screen in 2016?
