At this point, it's hardly a spoiler to mention that Black Adam's mid-credits scene featured the long-awaited return of Henry Cavill's Superman (star Dwayne Johnson let the cat out of the bag before the movie hit theaters), but it's now come to light that the DC Comics adventure almost included a second stinger.

This next part does contain spoilers!

During the movie's final battle, Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan) sacrifices himself to save his Justice Society teammate Hawkman by confronting the demonic Sabbac. According to The Direct, a brief post-credits scene was filmed which would have teased the character's eventual return.

Apparently, the sequence took place "during the day in a sandy location. The opening shot slowly pans up from the ground to reveal Doctor Fate's helmet sitting atop the sand. A hand then comes into the frame to pick up The Helmet of Fate, although the scene quickly cuts to black before the identity of the mystery individual can be revealed."

Johnson has previously promised fans that they haven't seen the last of Doctor Fate in the DCU, but Kent Nelson's death did seem pretty definitive, so there's a decent chance this scene was hinting at another character taking up the mantle. Several heroes have worn the Helmet of Fate in the comics over the years, including Eric and Linda Strauss, Jared Stevens, and Hawkman's son Hector Hall.

Since the scene was actually shot, we'll hopefully see it on the upcoming Blu-ray release.

"From New Line Cinema, Dwayne Johnson stars in the action adventure Black Adam. The first-ever feature film to explore the story of the DC Super Hero comes to the big screen under the direction of Jaume Collet-Serra (“Jungle Cruise”). Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods— and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world."

Johnson stars alongside Aldis Hodge (City on a Hill, One Night in Miami) as Hawkman, Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) as Atom Smasher, Sarah Shahi (Sex/Life, Rush Hour 3) as Adrianna, Marwan Kenzari (Murder on the Orient Express, The Mummy) as Ishmael, Quintessa Swindell (Voyagers, Trinkets) as Cyclone, Bodhi Sabongui (A Million Little Things) as Amon, and Pierce Brosnan (the Mamma Mia! and James Bond franchises) as Dr. Fate.

Black Adam is now in theaters.

Wasn’t a fan of him being killed from the jump. Brosnan breathed the most life into this mediocre thing.

@GhostDog - I found the Cyclone scenes to be my favorites. The greens really stood out from all the washed out earth tones (Fate's bright blues certainly helped here), and her movements looked like she was dancing.

Everything else felt like it was a victim of getting to a party late. Been done, less impactful.

@GhostDog - Agreed. There had been teases that someone would die and I thought it would probably be him and not Hawkman.

@GhostDog - Brosnan definitely stole the show for me. Kind of surprised by the hate many have for the movie though. It was entertaining. I don't see a difference between it and most of the Marvel stuff.

@GhostDog - Hollywood creators try to mask a movie's or TV show's story being utterly meaningless by doing a last minute shock gimmick, killing a big character or by doing a death fake out.

Star Trek Into Darkness is a great example of a meaningless movie with a death fake out thrown in to make the audience think they saw a movie where something big happened when it didn't.

@Reeds2Much - Cyclone scenes looked cool in initial fight, then they became lazy i guess. It started getting repetitive as the movie progressed... it's like they kept on using same template...

@Shivermetimbers - lmao Marvel, Marvel, Marvel with you guys.

DC can never fail without 100 DC fanboys trying to insert Marvel into the convo

@DCasAhobby - Im not a fanboy of either side. I am saying that I enjoyed both about an equal amount. Not sure what your issue is.

It's a comic book movie. Breaking your leg is more incapacitating than death.

Could have still used it as a second post credit scene.

This movie had garbage writing and absolutely terrible flow as everything felt rushed and there was way too much information that needed time to flesh out (more and more these bigger films with multiple characters seem to be better stories for streaming than the big screen).

But there is also a certain charm about this film a can't quite place my finger on. The action was good, the graphics were surprisingly not shit, and untimely the light hearted enough tone and over all feel wasn't terrible. At the end of the movie I had a good enough time. I wasn't annoyed like Love and Thunder or bored to tears like Eternals. I was entertained and left somewhat optimistic about the future films.

Now if I wanted to pick this film apart I could spend hours. This film is very very problematic and kinda straight up bad at times. But where it works it works well enough to barely make it a win. Like a 6/10... barely passing grade.

The fact that this movie didn’t have a postcredit scene (at least) that teased Shazam is not only a travesty because of the connection of the characters but also just plain stupid since Fury of the Gods is literally the next DC movie and it comes out in just a few months.

@TheUnworthyThor - sssshhhhh you're making too much sense. I wish the JSA had some 'fresh blood' instead of the members we got heck maybe Blue Bettle maybe. Guess we'll wait til next year and get official origin.

They probably tried to convince Pierce to stick around until the last posible minute, but considering how bored he looked during the entire movie...

Glad that Dr. Fate will possibly return because I like the character. However part of what made him work so well in the this movie was Brosnan who gave the best performance in the film so I would want him back as Kent.
TheVandalore
TheVandalore - 11/1/2022, 2:18 AM
@RolandD - missed opportunity not to have him in the next film with Superman and have some say "Hey Kent!" And both Doctor Fate and Superman respond "Yes?"

Brosnan as Dr Fate was THE highlight in this movie ( along with Cavill ´s return, of course )

DrFate was decent but I felt like he could’ve been better. But that’s the motto of the whole movie. “Could’ve been better”.
MosquitoFarmer
MosquitoFarmer - 10/31/2022, 7:32 PM
@slickrickdesigns - I liked him plenty, but him saying to Hawkman, “the world needs the Justice Society” is just laughable on basic principle of the DCU.

@MosquitoFarmer - as well as the justice society consisting of 4 members. 2 brand new to the squad.
