Black Adam actress Sarah Shahi revealed some surprising new details about the DC Comics movie last night, and star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has now taken to social media to share a somewhat unusual production update.
The former WWE Champion posted a behind-the-scenes photo to Instagram, giving his legions of followers another look at the tremendous shape he's gotten into (not that he was out of shape beforehand) to play the mega-powerful antihero.
"This is our final week of production for the filming of BLACK ADAM⚡️," he captioned the pic. "I can’t thank you guys enough for all your support. Grateful. Truly. Almost two years of hard core, intense training, diet, character prep and execution. You’ve been right there rockin’ with me all this time 🙏🏾👊🏾 And now it’s my turn and I hope to deliver the definitive antihero you deserve🤞🏾💪🏾
The hierarchy of power in the DC UNIVERSE is about to change. #finalweekofproduction #maninblack #blackadam⚡️🌍"
Johnson and Shahi join previously announced cast members Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone. Marwan Kenzari and James Cusati-Moyer are also on board.
Jungle Cruise director Jaume Collet-Serra is set to helm Black Adam, which has Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions on board as producers along with Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo. Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani penned the screenplay, which is based off an early story draft from Adam Sztykiel.
We recently got our first look at some sets being constructed in Georgia, but Collet-Serra and co. have clearly been extra vigilant when it comes to more revealing photos finding their way online. Maybe we'll finally get a live-action glimpse of The Rock in-costume once filming officially wraps next week?
Black Adam is set to hit theaters on July 29, 2022.
