BLACK ADAM Trailer Sees Dwayne Johnson's Antihero Face-Off With Hawkman And The JSA

As promised, New Line has debuted the first official trailer for Black Adam, and it features plenty of action-packed footage of Dwayne Johnson's "Man in Black" facing-off with The JSA...

The first trailer for Black Adam is now online, and it features plenty of exciting footage of Dwayne Johnson's mega-powerful antihero taking out bad guys (permanently) and facing-off with Hawkman, Doctor Fate and the other members of the JSA.

We begin with a voiceover from Johnson's Teth Adam, who explains that he died a slave before being reborn "as a god." Members of The Justice Society of America are clearly concerned that this near-omniscient level of power will corrupt, as Doctor Fate warns Adam that he will either save the world or destroy it.

From there, we see some shots of the JLA in action as Hawkman points out that heroes don't kill. "Well, I do," comes The Man in Black's response.

Check out the trailer below along with some stills and a new synopsis, and let us know what you think.

"From New Line Cinema, Dwayne Johnson stars in the action adventure Black Adam. The first-ever feature film to explore the story of the DC Super Hero comes to the big screen under the direction of Jaume Collet-Serra (“Jungle Cruise”). Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods— and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world."

Johnson stars alongside Aldis Hodge (City on a Hill, One Night in Miami) as Hawkman, Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) as Atom Smasher, Sarah Shahi (Sex/Life, Rush Hour 3) as Adrianna, Marwan Kenzari (Murder on the Orient Express, The Mummy) as Ishmael, Quintessa Swindell (Voyagers, Trinkets) as Cyclone, Bodhi Sabongui (A Million Little Things) as Amon, and Pierce Brosnan (the Mamma Mia! and James Bond franchises) as Dr. Fate.

Black Adam will be released nationwide on 21st October 2022 by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Looks alright.

The track sounds decent.. a bit VFX heavy, but that's expected these days.

Looks like solid performances all around though. Worth a watch, still unsure if that will be paid viewing... 🤷🏼‍♂️

@UniqNo - looks absolutely disappointing. Cringe music, no pointy ears or widows peak (because he had to always look the same), marvel humor, and another great villain that's reduced to an anti hero haha

@bobevanz - That's fair.. I didn't mean it looked like the next TDK or anything. But it looks watchable..

Yeah I was also disaapointed they didn't go with the ears or widows peak.

The soundtrack was really the only thing that stood out imo.

This film looks like it got the same director from Dawn of the Seven😆

@AmazingFILMporg - lol! i can see that.

I dunno about you, but it seems that everything that's come out this year (so far) has been a dissapointment. By no means has there been anything terrible or unwatchable, but nothing has excited me yet. The Batman was decent, Everything Everywhere All At Once was alright and Obi Wan has been ok, but i haven't had anything that got my pores raised for a minute. You think it's peaking?

Maybe your taste is changing?🤔

This year so far has been awesome💯❤️💪

@AmazingFILMporg - Maybe you're right, but all the stuff that's coming out seem so similar in tone and unsuprising....

But I do find myself watching more not so recent stuff these days...currently re-watching sense8 and got The Raid 2 lined up for tonight.

@UniqNo - visually looked great but felt like a teaser trailer. There’s no semblance of what the plot is, just a lot of cool looking shots put together.

If a trailer is supposed to make you more interested in a movie, I can’t say I’m more likely to see it now as I already was yesterday.

I couldn't get into Sense8 I tried but it just wasn't for me🥲

The Raid series is awesome💪

Watching the old for sure is a thing I do.

I usually go back and watch 80's horror and action.

Just recently I watched Dark Angel aka I come in peace🙂.

So good and bad😎

@UniqNo - I'm a little worried that the JSA are going to feel out of place here with no prior introduction.

@AmazingFILMporg - Actually tell a lie...Stranger Things Season 4 part 1 was good and i did finish it in 1 weekend. Before that, the last thing i binged was sense8 last year. That did take me about 3 attempts to get through the first episode over a couple years haha. But try it again.. i think it really does deliver by the time you finish it, takes a few to get going. It had such an effect on me i managed to convinced my wife we should go check out San Franciso, so we're going in a couple weeks. It's one of the locations heavily featured in season 1 i think.

@r0njeremy - Right. Heaven forbid people expect a character in a movie to look like the actual character they are portraying.

@CorndogBurglar - It was probably DC's bargaining to allow the Rock to forgo the ears and widow's peak, lol.

I like that we're seeing Hawkman and Brosnan, but i would happily have traded them for an appearance from Cavill's Superman. If he does show up it will be a Cameo and i'm already dissapointed in that prospect.

@bobevanz - I like Black Adam as more of the anti-villain role. Like he’ll help out if it serves him or his people.
Conquistador
Conquistador - 6/8/2022, 10:51 AM
@TheWalkingCuban - WW84 wasn't that bad IMO. It definitly had flaws with the story, but i think it was a good enough sequel. The problem with it and the 2017 original and most CBM's for that matter are the third acts.

Take MoS for example, i think had they changed it from the destruction of Metropolis to them duking it out in a desert or somthing (like DBZ) it would have been more effective. I think that movie could have been the best of the bunch, and also saved on the budget haha. But they always go for the VFX mess. I have no reason to think Black Adam will be any different... But i'll check it out.

@UniqNo - Honestly the pointy ears don't bother me. But it gets annoying seeing people getting attacked because they wish something was more accurate.

And yeah, I think its cool that people like Hawkman and Fate are getting some love. I just hope it doesn't end up hurting them. They are awesome characters and deserve their own movie(s). So jamming them all in here is a risk. Hopefully we get some kind of explanation about them all and they don't just feel like empty characters. I always get big Fox-Men vibes whenever a movie has big name characters in them without being properly introduced first.

The MCU has mostly done a good job introducing characters in other people's movies. But they've also never really introduced an entire team like this either.

@UniqNo - I thought it was very bad. Good production and all but corny as could be. Not knocking your opinion. Took me 3 sittings to finish it tho. That’s better than new mutants I gave that one up forever

Conquistador - 6/8/2022, 11:28 AM
@TheWalkingCuban - That's cool. I thought the corny tone suited the 80s vibe. I've still not watched New Mutants properly. I watched an awful cam rip and couldn't get past the first 30. I'll try again next 4/20. Lol

@UniqNo - It's not hard to change the DC hierarchy given it's current state, but it has me intrigued so far. I need to see more of Fate in action though. After Multiverse of Madness you'd think they'd want to showcase that a little more but...WB. It's early anyway.
