It's been over a decade since Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was first cast as the DC Comics antihero Black Adam and while, there hasn't been much movement on his live-action introduction since, it appears the recent success of Shazam! has convinced Warner Bros. and New Line to finally set a start date for the long-awaited superhero movie.
In a recent Twitter interaction, Johnson revealed his Black Adam solo feature would officially commence production in July of next year, making a 2021 release date seem increasingly more likely.
While it's still early for casting news, Jaume Collet-Serra (Jungle Cruise; The Shallows) has already been confirmed to direct the DC adaptation with a screenplay from Adam Sztykiel (Rampage; Undateable).
