The King is coming to Studio 8H.

Last night, during the Bill Hader-hosted episode of Saturday Night Live, NBC officially announced that Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War star Chadwick Boseman will be making his SNL debut on April 7, when he hosts the long-running sketch series. He'll be joined by fellow first-timer, Cardi B, who will serve as the musical guest for the hour.

Boseman, who is undoubtedly best known for his role as T'Challa in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has primarily acted in mostly heavy-hitting dramas throughout his career, including 42, Draft Day, Get On Up, Message from the King, and Marshall, so this should be an interesting change of pace for the acclaimed actor as he finally gets an opportunity to stretch his comedy chops.

Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.
