BLACK PANTHER: T'Chaka Is Finally Getting His Own Funko Pop Figure Featuring His Badass Panther Costume

BLACK PANTHER: T'Chaka Is Finally Getting His Own Funko Pop Figure Featuring His Badass Panther Costume

Well, it's about time, eh? Thanks to a leaked listing on Funko's European website, we have a first look at an upcoming T'Chaka Pop based on how the character looked in Black Panther's opening scene...

T'Chaka was murdered by Zemo in Captain America: Civil War, but we got to catch up with a younger version of the character in Black Panther's memorable opening sequence.

There, we saw the King of Wakanda confront his brother N'Jobu (Erik Killmonger's father) in Oakland, California, accusing him of assisting black-market arms dealer Ulysses Klaue with stealing Vibranium from Wakanda. It was a great scene, and featured a very different Black Panther costume.

While this design has been available as a Hot Toys and Marvel Legends action figure for quite a while now, it's been confirmed today that we're also getting a Funko Pop version...finally!

This Pop should look awesome displayed alongside T'Challa (who was, of course, played by the late Chadwick Boseman). Previous Funko Pops for Black Panther have covered all the bases with the rest of the movie's characters, so this is likely the last one we're getting until the sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, is released next year.

In our 2018 review of Black Panther, we concluded by saying, "Black Panther is one of Marvel's best movies to date, and Ryan Coogler has delivered something which is going to have a lasting impact not only on comic book fans, but an entire generation. Wakanda Forever!"

The actor would be a good choice for T’challa if they chose to recast

Actor did great, suit looked cool, interesting guy all around. I wouldn't mind a T'Chaka prequel. Especially if that means more Klaw

I still feel like they should still have T'Challa appear in the sequel but only suited up. Have a voice actor who can replicate Boseman's voice do the dubbing and let Shuri take on the mantle while T'Challa falls back and the purpose of the test would be incase an Infinity War situation ever happened again and Shuri was left behind he wants her to lead Wakanda.
