Early reviews for Marvel's Black Panther attempted to inform audiences that they would be in for a rare cinematic treat but it's likely the average moviegoer was still unprepared for how good Ryan Coogle's Marvel Cinematic Universe debut would turn out.

Early tracking for the film estimated a $100M USD opening weekend which grew to $150M, early screening reactions ballooned that figure to $165M, then $180M, then $200M and now...$230M+ domestically.

Black Panther arrives in a time when many expect the "founding fathers" of the MCU- Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth to ride off into the sunset after Avengers 4.  Given the box office response, it's very likely that Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa just might become the face of the franchise moving forward.  In celebration of the film's colossal debut, here are some of the top reactions and highlights from the Twittersphere.

Is this $230 million for the 4 day or 3 day? Because only the 3 day should matter if you call it opening weekend. Because by that logic we should apply a 4 day weekend to all MCU films.

Good on Coogler. 3/3 so far. He's a great director and hopefully he returns for the sequels.

@MrDandy - He really is. I watched Fruitvale Station for the first time a few weeks ago. I read up a little on the story before watching & knew MBJ’s character would die.

That movie is soooo good I was thinking & hoping MBJ’s character wouldn’t die when the shit goes down. That maybe he could make it through despite knowing he died before watching.
