Just about anyone who has seen Marvel's
Black Panther will probably agree that one of the best parts of the film was the Dora Milaje, the all-female special forces team that protects Wakanda. Since the film's release, the Dora Milaje have become a fan-favorite, and now we're their about to get their very own comic series.
Marvel announced this week
Wakanda Forever, a new three-part story that will follow Okoye, Ayo, and Aneka on a globe-trotting mission to protect Wakanda. On their journey, they'll team-up with Spider-Man, the X-Men, and the Avengers.
The first issue,
Wakanda Forever: Amazing Spider-Man, will see these fearless warriors head to New York City on a mission to protect Wakanda, where they will meet up with Peter Parker's web-slinging Spider-Man. The first book will hit stands on June 27th, and will be followed by two additional team-up issues:
Wakanda Forever: X-Men in July, and
Wakanda Forever: Avengers in August. The entire
Wakanda Forever series will be written by Nnedi Okorafor with art by Alberto Jimenez Alburquerque.
“I’m super excited about writing this storyline. Powerful disciplined African women with futuristic spears who faced their shortcomings and changed a nation? Oh heck yeah, I’m so there,” said Okorafor.
“Fans of the Dora Milaje can look forward to seeing them out in the world beyond T’Challa and the Wakandan throne’s shadow. They’ll get to see the Dora Milaje come into their own, while teaming up with the unexpected.”
Look out for
Wakanda Forever: Amazing Spider-Man to hit stands on June 27.
