BLACK ADAM: Dwayne Johnson Shares Behind The Scenes Look At VFX Work For Key "Teth Adam" Sequence

The first trailer for Black Adam will almost certainly be here in time for The Batman this March, but work continues on the DC Comics blockbuster in post-production. Star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has taken to Instagram to share a new sneak peek at the movie, teasing an exciting transformation as part of some key scenes in Jaume Collet Serra's biggest blockbuster yet.

"10 hours of sitting in 'the egg' shooting extremely complicated sequences where I can only move my eyes, head & shoulders focusing on marks no bigger than a quarter - all while performing as Black Adam," the actor explains in the post below. "In the mythology, Teth Adam (his original name before his soul is darkened to 'Black'), starts off as a slave in his birthplace of Kahndaq. These slave sequences are super intricate and complex."

In other words, Johnson's head is going to be placed on the body of an Adam who was a slave and obviously wouldn't have a superhero physique. This sounds a lot like what Marvel Studios did with Chris Evans as skinny Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger, though technology has clearly advanced quite a bit since then.

It will be interesting to see these scenes first-hand, especially after this behind the scenes look at the work going into them. Regardless, a lot is riding on Black Adam because providing it's a hit, there are all sorts of crossovers and spinoffs we could see with the title character and the Justice Society of America moving forward. Black Adam vs. Shazam vs. Superman is a definite must.

Black Adam will electrify audiences in theaters on July 29.

If they needed the smaller body he should have just got his buddy Kevin Hart to do it and then they CGI Rock's head over it.

@MosquitoFarmer - 100% there will be a joke from the Rock about this with Kevin Hart at some point. the joke will be that Harts frame was even too small for it or that if he needed his head put on the frame of a toddler then he would have called Kev.

So Dwayne must have convinced WB execs to dump Henry and Ben. Just so, other than Shazam, his only other rivals on screen would be old man Batman and two chicks.

“The hierarchy of power blah blah blah”

Hoping for a good movie. Not that Marvel did anything good in 2021 either. Aside from Spider Man NWH comic book movies were disappointing in 2021. I hope Batman changes all that for DC.

10 hours of that? Whenever I hear about these guys sitting in makeup chairs and the like for 6 plus hours it always sounds terrible.

Didn't actually expect them to do the slave part of the story too. They probably make him some rebel leader within the slave group or something like that though. Can't have Rock not atleast do something heroic

I want to be excited for this but Dwayne's ego dominates everything he does so I feel like he's going to try and make the DCEU 'his universe'. He's already repeatedly said that the hierarchy of power at the DC movie universe is about to change with Black Adam.
