BLACK ADAM Star Dwayne Johnson Calls Henry Cavill "The Superman Of Our Generation"

With fans making it clear they want Henry Cavill's Superman to return to the DC Extended Universe, Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson has shared some interesting praise for the British Man of Steel actor...

Heading into Warner Bros.' Hall H panel at this past weekend's San Diego Comic-Con, there were rumours that Henry Cavill might make an appearance to confirm his return as Superman.

There was no sign of the British actor, and the studio failed to share any surprise announcements or reveals beyond the Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods trailers we knew were coming. It was an underwhelming showing, and a couple of Superman teases from Zachary Levi and Dwayne Johnson weren't massively appreciated by fans.

Levi just winked when he was asked about a possible team-up, while Johnson said the outcome of a fight between Black Adam and Superman would depend on who's playing the latter. Now, though, the latter has shared high praise for Cavill after being asked by ComicBook.com if we'll ever see the two characters meet in the DCEU.

"I will say this. I will say that Henry is a buddy and he is a phenomenal Superman," Johnson enthused. "He is a phenomenal Superman and Henry Cavill is the Superman of our generation with respect to the other Supermans of the past."

"Every time I see him, we have some tequila and I say 'This guy is Superman,'" the actor continued. "My longtime business partner Dany Garcia has been a passionate advocate for Henry Cavill and his career for a very, very, very long time."

That's a great way to dodge the question, but does this mean something is in the works? Probably not. There are already rumblings about more faceless Superman cameos (similar to what we saw in Shazam! and Peacemaker), while we still don't actually know whether Cavill wants to play Kal-El again.

He didn't return to shoot additional material for Zack Snyder's Justice League, and was humiliated by Warner Bros. when they used awful CGI to remove his facial hair in the theatrical cut.

Black Adam is set to be released in theaters on October 21.
