As reported last week, the animated Fox sequel Rio 2 was set to dominate its opening weekend in the United States and take the number 1 spot from Captain America: The Winter Soldier. However, recent estimates suggest that the Marvel/Disney sequel has brought in $41.4 million domestically, making it (still) the #1 movie in America. With this weekend's earnings from overseas, Cap has accumulated a total $476.7m worldwide, making it the highest-grossing movie of 2014 (so far)!
