The Falcon and The Winter Soldier ended with Sam Wilson finally wielding the shield and becoming the Marvel Cinematic Universe's new Captain America. We haven't seen the star-spangled hero since, but it wasn't long after the Disney+ series ended that we heard about Marvel Studios' plans for Captain America 4.
Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson are penning the screenplay for the movie, and cameras might begin rolling sooner than we anticipated.
During a recent interview, Mackie was asked for an update on the project, and suggested that he's set to report for duty imminently. "No, I haven’t started filming yet, I start in a few weeks," the actor says in the video below. "[I’m eating] a lot of vegetables and chicken breast. [Laughs]"
We should point out that there has been some confusion surrounding this interview, as we never hear the journalist ask about Captain America 4. Mackie also goes on to say he starts shooting Twisted Metal soon, leaving many wondering if that's the project he's actually referring to here. The Tweet does specifically mention his MCU role, however.
We've heard nothing about who will direct Captain America 4, and it's possible Mackie is referring to costume tests or even a stinger that will be added to another MCU project. Hopefully, we get some clarification soon.
