After WWE Superstar Seth Rollins was spotted on the set of Captain America: Brave New World, we quickly figured out that the pro wrestler was playing a member of the villainous Serpent Society.

Since then, it's been reported that he'll take on the role of Cobra, a classic comic book villain who has clashed with Steve Rogers on multiple occasions over the years. On the page, there have been a couple of Cobras, though we're guessing Rollins could be playing an amalgamation of the original, Klaus Voorhees, and his nephew Piet Voorhees.

Now, new details have been revealed about Cobra's powers in the MCU (via TheRingReport.com).

As you can see below, it's said Rollins' version of this villain will make use of "bio-technology [which] will be used through his teeth." The scooper adds that, "His bio-tech 'grill' will be able to expand into fangs that can spit venom."

This is unlike any other power we've seen in this shared world and we're sure Rollins' Serpent Society member will pose a significant challenge to both Sam Wilson's Captain America and his new sidekick, Joaquín Torres/The Falcon.

With The Leader and even Red Hulk also expected to be part of Captain America: Brave New World, it's unclear what role Diamondback and Cobra will play in the story. However, we'd imagine they're working for Samuel Sterns as he's definitely smart enough to have outfitted them with these unique superpowers.

The movie stars Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson, Shira Haas, and Liv Tyler. Julius Onah directs from a screenplay by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson, though he's also believed to have taken a pass at it.

Captain America: Brave New World will be released in theaters on July 26, 2024.

@Franshu -
Yeah, I think the only way this film is salvaged is if this is all nonsense and it's actually just a World War Hulk movie and this is done to mislead audiences.

Though at this stage, with the declining writing and quality, I don't put it past Marvel to just give him growing snake-venom-spitting teeth.

This Makes me think more of DC's Copperhead. I know that the Serpent Society are D-Listers, but that doesn't mean you have to change their power sets. Cobra is a schemer and contortionist--as long as he does that, I'm happy.

This sounds so silly. The Serpent Society should have been the failed test subjects of the Neo Super Soldier serum being sold on the black markets. They should have been the test subjects that mutated into snake like humanoids from the original testing and escaped and went into hiding. And they became an underground syndicate to eventually overthrow Madripoor and have helped the Power Broker over the years with off the grid black market transactions and assassinations.

@SonOfAGif - they needed you on this film. I always figured the society should be something along these lines.

@GhostDog - It upsets me because to get into Hollywood to write you have to have connections. And these studios almost never hire fans of the source material. And their current writers don't even build off of current plot points within the MCU. Such as Red Hulk. The Red Hulk should be the massive twist from The Leader. The Leader was using The Power Broker for the serum and The Leader was combining it with She-Hulk's DNA and created the Red Hulk serum. It can all weave together to create a micro-saga called "The Thunderbolt Saga"

@SonOfAGif - Us fans have our issues and some of us should never have access to a scripting program lol, but I do think there are several of us who can honestly add benefit in even a consulting and/or story role to these projects.

@GhostDog @SonOfAGif - Let's hope that the fangs thing is not true because I agree that it does sound silly and impractical. Also I like your idea about the original of the Serpent Society and how everything could tie together with the PB, Leader, RH, etc. So let's hope that they do something close to that.

Regarding getting into Hollywood as a writer, yeah it sucks that it's so hard to get into. I was a theater person in high school and actually wrote and directed my own one-act play called "Marsha Brady in Hell" based on existentialism (I was reading a lot of that at the time) and the play was somewhat inspired by Shaw's "Don Juan in Hell" from "Man and Superman" but it presented the existentialism in a more humorous way using characters like Don Juan, Elvis, Apollo, Satan, etc. (and of course Marsha Brady). I was also an actor in a bunch of other plays and musicals and have been playing the guitar since I was 6. But I would have NO idea how to get into Hollywood with any of that if I didn't have a connection (which I don't).

Hell I occasionally post some well-received ideas here and even plotted out at least a 4 season animated series with @B89 about a plant-based Spider-Man variant in Australia named "Vege-Might" (it's intended for both kids and parents with jokes for both), but I don't know what to do with that. I can also do a pretty spot-on impression of Chris Latta's TF G1 Starscream, but does anyone know how to get into force acting? I sure as hell don't.

Guess I'l just have to go back to my day job of using Generative AI to create the the AI super-intelligence that will one day enslave us using giant transforming robots (so far when I tell it to "launch missile" it thinks I'm saying "lunch whistle" and then every Echo Dot in my house pays this high-pitched screeching sound for about a minute so it's got a ways to go). *sigh*

@StSteven - I was heavy into film and majored in film studies (editing concentration) in college for a bit until the program became toxic and I realized I wanted a job to pay off my loans as fast as possible and getting into Hollywood would’ve been a harrowing, near impossible feat.

And all I wanted to really do at that time was simply edit. I wrote short scripts for fun and did a short film or two in high school.

StSteven - 8/2/2023, 6:04 PM
@GhostDog - Yeah, just really like performing in general and I'm not scared to get up on a stage. My "performance" that I can recall is when I was in first grade my mom dressed me up as a leprechaun on my birthday (which is St. Patrick's Day) and then sent me to school where I ran from classroom to classroom shouting "I'm a leprechaun! You can't catch me!". Unfortunately I made the mistake of running into the gym where they were holding some kind of a teacher's meeting or something and the music lady caught me and made me dance around during the meeting while she played Irish jigs or whatever on the piano. True story. But then later in 4th, 5th, and 6th, grade I was in the talent shows and was like the big ending act where I would crank out 60s tunes like "Johnny B. Goode" on my first electric guitar. And it just went on from there.

I think that if I had to choose between being a professional actor/writer/director or musician, I would probably go with musician because of the greater degree of artistic freedom it allows you (I also do visual art and if I have any natural talent that's it and fortunately it seems my older daughter inherited that from me). Since starting college many years ago I've written 10 albums of lyrics and chords and started on my 11th a little while ago, but I've never professionally recorded anything (I was in a band in college but that was more or less just something fun to do while we were f**ked up). After I took guitar lessons for 12 years I thought myself piano, drums, and bass, so I could theoretically start recording my albums and maybe get something played on the radio one of these days. But that's time I don't have right now. I'm hoping that if nothing else one of these days I'll get another band together and pay local joints on the weekends or something (currently my fanbase only consists of two little girls who like it when their daddy plays song so they can dance around 😊).

GhostDog - 8/2/2023, 6:28 PM
@StSteven - kudos to you because performing scares me lol. I did one play and had one line once because one of the actors got sick. High school titanic production and I was the lights guy but they needed someone for a quick scene to yell ICEBERG lol. Terrified
StSteven
StSteven - 8/2/2023, 8:59 PM
@GhostDog - Ha! Maybe I'm just insecure and crave the attention for self-validation. Or maybe... I just gotta tap! (Fun fact I was actually in "Anything Goes" (musical) in high school and played the old decrepit boss of the main character (don't remember the name right now). If you're not familiar with the show, it's a caper comedy that takes place on a cruise ship and my character gets sea sick early on and starts drinking, so he spends the rest of the show drunk. It was a blast (got the sfx make up, bald cap, atc.). Apparently I was SO convincing that the audience thought that I really was drunk and people told me so after the show. The funny thing is that my friends and I were mainly just smoking pot and not drinking because weed was easier to get than alcohol at that age so I just kinda made it up). Oh, yeah, and I had to learn to tap dance :/

Sounds a little too silly. Was hoping he would mirror his comicbook counterpart more and be double-jointed, dislocate and snap back into place his shoulders and hips at will with spider-man level reflexes. An experiment gone wrong.

@PlusUltra - Im tired of hearing shit like that tho. Do they have no creativity to create or reinvent a villain like this? There is no way this is all they were able to come up with....Smh
FireandBlood
FireandBlood - 8/2/2023, 4:19 PM
@BlackStar25 - No, they don’t, that’s the thing. They didn’t when they created these bottom tier villains, and they don’t now. Tbf, there’s only a handful of great villains across the board in each respective universe, and most of them either belong to Batman, Superman, Spider-Men or the X-Men. That’s why Ross is the main villain in this, because they’re [frick] all out of great Cap villains to use now.

"He’s one of Cap’s good villains tho, that’s what I mean. Now they’re scraping" - @PlusUltra

They're using an Incredible Hulk villain, and they still haven't even given Hulk his own movie, in 15 years. And counting. In 15 years and counting The actual Hulk, The Incredible Hulk, doesn't have shit. He just has this dickless portrayal by Mark Ruffalo, and that's it. That's your Hulk.

The guy just bombed in his last outing in his own franchise, and now he is gonna be this replacement Captain America's new villain.

Should have just made him some Mercenary turned cult leader who uses a steel whip and poison laced knifes. Hell...add a gun with bullets that are laced with acid. Shit! Give him a mini utility belt that has smoke screen, flash grenades, or nerve gas. I just dont get how they came up with that stupid shit. Every time I heard grills in a comicbook movie I get PTSD of this...

All these shitty-ass, d-list characters. This shit gonna be wack as fukc, man.

Marvel's been relying on completely d-list characters for too long. That shit worked for 11 years, but now, some how some way, that shit is no longer working. People woke up (which I can't even say with a straight face.)

One thing I hate though, is that the Marvel Studios lessening quality in the public's eyes, is coinciding with the increased spotlighting of non-white actors and actresses, and they'll get the blame for the..."lessening quality", instead of Kevin Feige.

( I never believed Marvel Studios ever had high quality to begin with, but in the public's eyes Marvel Studios did, and now their view of the current state of Marvel Studios is married with all these actors and actresses that they're hiring. Behind the scenes as well. A lot of non-white people are being hired to write and direct, and produce, and the lessening quality is coming at the exact same time as all of these hiring.

You know how people are. Who do you think the public is gonna blame? Maybe the new people behind the scenes are unqualified? Sure. Fine. But who hired them? One Kevin Feige. It starts and stops with him. No one else knows how to run this ship but him. If they did then he would have fukced off and retired.

I said it before and I'll say it again: Feige doesn't know how to write powerful characters that people have expectations/standards for. He can bring characters to the screen that nobody gives a fukc about or ever heard of. People - Finally! - have gotten their fill of the D-list ass Avengers. It's time for the A-listers. The X-Men
