CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD Promo Art Reveals First Look At Tim Blake Nelson As The Leader

Newly revealed promo art for Captain America: Brave New World offers a first look at Tim Blake Nelson's return as The Leader, but just how in line with his comic book counterpart is the MCU's version?

Captain America: Brave New World was supposed to be released in theaters this year, but thanks to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the movie was pushed into 2025. A big part of that, of course, is the fact Sam Wilson's first solo adventure as Captain America requires extensive reshoots.

Those are expected to last most of the summer, potentially ditching the Serpent Society and reshaping many of the movie's action scenes (at least based on what we've been hearing about Marvel Studios' plans for the seemingly troubled project).

What we do know is that Cap will find himself fending off Harrison Ford's Red Hulk, a villain we're expecting to see created by the returning Samuel Sterns. Introduced in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, he's since become The Leader, one of Bruce Banner's greatest enemies in the comic books.

Tim Blake Nelson will reprise the role and, thanks to some newly revealed promo art (via scooper @CanWeGetToast), we have a first look at the MCU's Leader.

The transformation isn't quite as dramatic as expected; Stern's head is enlarged and the actor has a goatee and hair. It's hard to say whether his skin is green, but if it is, then it's a pretty light shade of jade! The villain seems to be wearing a suit of some sort, but it's largely covered up.

"Really excited. I had a great time filming it," Nelson recently told us about his role in the movie. "And [I] worked with the Marvel team and this wonderful makeup artist named David Atherton with whom I've collaborated on a dozen movies now."

"I think people are going to be pretty excited about what this guy looks like. And what he has to say and what he does," he teased. "All power to the amazing team over there at Marvel."

Assuming they all make the cut, Captain America: Brave New World stars Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson, Shira Haas, Liv Tyler, and WWE Superstar Seth Rollins.

Julius Onah helms the movie from a screenplay by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson, though the director is believed to have also taken a pass at it. Matthew Orton, meanwhile, has written new scenes for the reshoots which are taking place later this year.

Captain America: Brave New World is set to arrive in theaters on February 14, 2025.
