CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD Rumored To Feature A Cameo From [SPOILER]

A new rumor relating to Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World is doing the rounds, and it claims that the movie will feature a cameo from a certain super solider...

By MarkCassidy - Oct 04, 2024 08:10 AM EST

A (supposed) plot leak for Captain America: Brave New World is doing the rounds online (check back later on for more), and while we haven't been able to fully verify its accuracy, at least one thing mentioned in the breakdown does appear to be on the level.

Possible spoilers follow.

According to scooper MTTSH, the Marvel Studios sequel will feature a cameo from Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier.

Taking Bucky's connection to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) into account, this wouldn't exactly be a major surprise.

The two became close friends during the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and even though Barnes' arc does appear to have taken him down a very different path (we know he joins the Thunderbolts), it would only make sense that he'd drop in on his old pal to see how his career as the new Sentinel of Liberty is going.

Details on Bucky's role are pretty vague, but this does sound like an actual cameo, and not a minor supporting part akin to the Resistance fighters from Deadpool and Wolverine.

What do you make of this rumor? Did you already expect Bucky to show up? Let us know in the comments section.

After meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, played by Harrison Ford in his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident. He must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.

Captain America: Brave New World stars Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, with Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson, and Harrison Ford. The film is directed by Julius Onah and produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore. Louis D’Esposito and Charles Newirth serve as executive producers.

"It made more sense for it to be more of a grounded espionage action movie as opposed to aliens and airplanes coming through portals and sh*t," Mackie said in a recent interview. "Even though I've been in so many of them and have seen it all now, the opportunity for Sam to really establish himself as a true action star and Avenger comes with this movie."

"This movie is a clear reset," he added. "It really re-establishes the idea of what this universe is and what this universe is going to be. I think with these movies, you're getting a clear, new branding of what Marvel is headed towards the same way they did with Captain America: The Winter Soldier."

Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World opens in U.S. theaters on February 14, 2025.

@ItsNotForMeWahh - exactly, I mean would it even be considered a cameo as it's following on directly from that show in terms of character and story.

@Conquistador - I certainly wouldn't class it as a cameo even if only appears for a few mins considering he was in all three prior Captain America films and was co-lead with Sam in the show leading directly into this (plus the last two Avengers movies).

@ItsNotForMeWahh - aside from their friendship, Bucky is also now a politician and multiple scenes take place in political settings, so it would make sense for Bucky and Sam to run into each other in washington.

I imagine something similar to Sam’s cameo at the beginning of Age of Ultron following up on
The events of Winter Soldier, except this cameo would tee up Thinderbolts*.

@thewanderer - I completely agree, it will more than likely be them leaving crums for Thunderbolts

That would be great.

Mackie is a good actor, but he does not come close to having the screen presence and charisma needed to headline a huge blockbuster movie or lead the Avengers.

I want to see Barnes go through serious redemption by fire and take on the role of Captain America. For obvious reasons, that is an almost impossible thing, but it should happen.

@DocSpock - I'd argue Sam is just as capable as Barnes he doesn't have the serum and F&WS was dogshit but I say give him another shot

@narrow290 -

I agree F&WS was really bad. I am going to give him another shot. I am also truly hoping we don't get another big bag full of that F&WS social message mush that so badly bogged down that MCU show.

Also, Sam just needs to get the jab. Maybe somehow it gets forced on him. Him fighting a Red Hulk or any highly powered foe is just stupid.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he does show up in this considering the friendship they have formed , especially FaTWS so I would be down for this if true.

I do wonder if these scoopers are fans then why would you reveal stuff like this?.

I get the onus is on us if we read these “leaks” (genuine or not) but I think part of the responsibility lies on these people to not possibly spoil cool stuff for other fans aswell.

I guess they get paid for it and everyone’s gotta eat so whatever.

the movie is going to be so full of marvel richness, red hulk, adamantium, celestials, sam as cap, isiah bradley, new falcon, bucky with the winter soldier tone. but unfortunately it might get drowned out by the nerdrotics and ryan kinnels of the world trying to paint anti woke propaganda on it. its going to be a full court press of negativity towards the movie because of the "race swap" that is canon in the books, hell its always been a part of comics that the mantle gets handed to another person that happens to be not white. ahem john stewart anyone in the 80s. rhodey. but these fools act like this is some new "woke" thing.

@TheVisionary25 - yeah they are. i actually believe Kinnel is racists and a good ol boy. he is super passionate about hating on anything non white and male. but they know the hot buttons to push and how to instigate incels. there is a classic video online where all the usual suspects are having a group youtube video and one of them just straight up discloses that all they do is talk about the same shows over and over and over talking about the same shit because its popular to hate on said show. nerdrotic just straight up breaks character and starts cracking up. the guy was talking about all of them but really really pointing the finger at ryan kinnel. kinnel started getting offended. its a classic.
