When Anthony Mackie shared a first look at Captain America: Brave New World (the movie was previously titled New World Order), a few eagle-eyed fans noticed something strange about Harrison Ford's Thaddeus Ross.
While most of us were distracted by his lack of moustache, there were those who pointed out that the legendary actor was wearing what seemed to be tattered pants.
Considering the fact the General becomes Red Hulk in the comic books, you can probably see where we're going with this, and all signs are pointing to Ford's take on Ross becoming Red Hulk. Whether that's a one-and-done role or a part he'll reprise in the long-rumoured World War Hulk movie is tough to say.
During an interview with ComicBook.com about Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the tattered pants theory was presented to Ford who responded by saying, "What is the Red Hulk?"
Seemingly feigning confusion, the iconic actor then turned to co-star Phoebe Waller-Bridge to chastise her for not knowing more about the character and concluded by saying Red Hulk "may or it may not" be included.
We can't embed the video here, but if you head to the site to check it out, you'll probably agree that Ford has now all but confirmed he's playing Red Hulk as well as General "Thunderbolt" Ross. With The Leader set to make his return in Captain America: Brave New World, it seemed inevitable this would happen, though we remain intrigued by what actually leads to Ross' transformation.
It's unclear whether the WGA strike will lead to the movie being delayed, especially as inevitable reshoots (which is part of Marvel Studios' creative process) will eventually need a writer who can step in to pen those.
Captain America: Brave New World is set to be released in theaters on May 3, 2024.
