I really wanna hear exactly WHY Marvel Studios wanted this guy so badly. Don't get me wrong, I think he'll be AWESOME as Cap, but he was NOT my first choice and never in a million years would I have guessed he'd be wearing Steve Rogers' shoes.

Thanks, guys. And VideoColor, my interview with him will gradually be appearing, but this is where the conversation started.

Otherside, it's funny you should say that: I also felt that he kind of sounded like Steve Rogers would, too.

Ed Gross, maybe you should've put 'Part One' as a section of the headline so people know that he's not repeating EVERYTHING we've heard.

Seems in recent years that:

People with talent do not want to be labeled as a 'celebrity'

and

People with no talent do want to become a 'celebrity'

I know who I have more respect for.

Excellent get!!! Looking forward to part II and the first full trailer, which I believe will be attached to Battle LA, in two weeks ? Keep up the good work!! Marvel seems to be promoting their features better than DC. Even X-Men: First Class, another new trailer by Battle LA ? Hope so!!! What a summer!!

This is one instance where he probably should have gone with his gut feeling and passed on this one. Although I got a sneaky suspicion that him saying he reluctantly took this role is probably not entirely true. I'm thinking he could tell by the writing on the wall that Fantastic Four wasn't going anywhere, and was willing to do whatever he could to make sure he kept his foot in the door for that big comic book action hero role. If you ask me, the fact that in the public eye he's already established himself as another well known character in the same comic book universe as Captain America has in a way kind of cheapened how this movie will be perceived. Almost as if they couldn't get anyone else to take the part so they had to go ahead and give Evans another shot. The fact that there were so many actors out there who could have easily been perfect for Cap really makes me wonder why they went with him after all, knowing that him playing Human Torch would have definitely aroused concern with so many people. They've already gotten off to a bad start in that aspect. Then again, maybe all their first choices were reluctant as well and they were indeed stuck with taking Evans. I don't know, seems pretty fishy to me. Why take any risks at all when they know so much is riding on this movie?
Rango
Rango - 2/26/2011, 1:51 PM
@SUPERPOOPER
well said and thought,maybe no American actor wanted a risk of playing "A symbol of American heroism" and Evans was the only choice left.
Why do I get a feeling that this one is a half-hearted venture.Hope I'm wrong.

I like how he understands how iconic the role is and how he's just plain afraid of [frick]ing it up. If he does, well, at least we all know he tried.

Hasn't this been posted before...what an asinine statement!! Ed this is truly one of the original posts I have heard..I like to hear where Chris's head was at before he accepted this role. This role is monumental and I think he really displays how tough of a decision it was for him....Great Stuff and Thanks!!
