Frank Grillo Says He'd "Rather Not" Return As CAPTAIN AMERICA Villain Crossbones Despite Talks With Marvel

He may have died in a fiery explosion in Captain America: Civil War, but it sounds like Frank Grillo had no interest in reprising the role of Crossbones when Marvel Studios recently came calling...

Ahead of the release of Captain America: Civil War, Frank Grillo teased fans with the prospect that he would play a key role in that movie, but he ended up being killed off in surprisingly quick fashion. That was arguably a disservice to the character, especially as he's the one responsible for gunning down Steve Rogers in the comic books. Perhaps that explains why Grillo is sounding a little frustrated!

During an interview with Collider, the actor was asked about both the possibility of returning to the Purge franchise and his thoughts on taking another crack at Captain America. However, it sounds like he's not thrilled with the opportunities given to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's supporting players.

"If DeMonaco was still involved and they came up with a great idea, then I think I would do [another Purge movie]. Otherwise, I think I’m done. Same thing with Captain America. There’s nowhere for it to go, unless you’re Captain America or Iron Man. They were talking about it, but I was like, ‘You know what? I’d just rather not do it.’ I’m so appreciative and grateful to have been a part of something that big. I’m appreciative of The Purge. It’s become a part of the lexicon and the zeitgeist knows what it is, so that’s been fun. But, it’s time to move on. Don’t stay at the party too long, or you get knocked through the ropes."

It definitely sounds like Marvel has talked with the actor about a return, and it was last July that Grillo pointed out the fact that we never saw a body following that explosion. What they wanted him for and why he's changed his mind is hard to say, but it definitely sounds like we can say goodbye to Crossbones for the time being. What do you guys think about these comments? @LeonardTheWise -

I expect Marvel will bring back certain villains thanks to Infinity War or Avengers 4. Something akin to a 'Days Of Future Past' scenario.

@GarthRanzz - Obadiah Stane, Ivan Vanko, Quicksilver, and almost every villain is pretty dead...

@GarthRanzz - He is BLOWN. UP. Of course he's staying dead. Coulson is the only person I can think of that ACTUALLY died and came back. The others were fake outs, so there's no argument here, I'm afraid.

@LeonardTheWise - He blew up, or did he?
Wanda contained him with the power of an Infinity Stone.
Could he actually have been wisked away like Red Skull via the Tessaract to another dimension?
Does anyone we perceive as 'killed' via an Infinity Stone actually stay dead or even die in the first place?
We don't really know where the Infinity Stone storyline will go in the future.
Will The Destroyer or Malekith come back, are they just in another dimension with Grillo and Red Skull where all baddies zapped by an Infinity Stone go to??
Are they all standing around Thanos' throne right now awaiting the Infinity War and their orders to commence chaos?

@LeonardTheWise - Stane's body wasn't found, and originally they were going to include a scene in the movie revealing that, hinting at a return. Thanos gets the soul stone, he could assemble an army consisting of every deceased MCU villain. It would be epic.
