CAPTAIN MARVEL SPOILER - It Looks Like The Identity Of Jude Law's Character Has Been Revealed
A blurry image of one of the upcoming Captain Marvel Funko POP! figures has seemingly revealed the true identity of Jude Law's mysterious character, and it may come as quite a surprise. More past the jump.
When the news first broke that Jude Law had joined the cast of Captain Marvel, it was strongly suggested that he'd be playing Carol Danvers' mentor and the man who first held her superhero mantle, Mar-Vell, but it looks like he's actually be portraying that character's mortal enemy.
If the Funko POP! below does indeed represent Law's character (it most likely does, though we haven't seen him in a helmet yet), then he will almost certainly wind up becoming the main villain of the piece, Yon-Rogg.
In the comics, Rogg was a jealous Kree officer who stranded Mar-Vell on earth and was indirectly responsible for Danvers acquiring her abilities. We know the movie is going to take a few liberties with Carol's origin so things may also play out quite differently for Rogg, but it's a safe bet he will still play an antagonistic role in the story.
Set in 1995, Captain Marvel follows Carol Danvers, a former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, as she turns into one of the galaxy's mightiest heroes and joins Starforce, an elite Kree military team, before returning home with new questions about her past and identity when the Earth is caught in the center of an intergalactic conflict between two alien worlds.
Captain Marvel flies into theaters on March 8, 2019.
