It was recently reported that production designer Andy Nicholson had joined Captain Marvel’s team, and now yet another artist has signed on to help develop the picture. According to Omega Underground, VFX supervisor Christopher Townsend has been hired to achieve the directors' goals through the use of visual effects, but is he a good pitch to bring the alien Skrull civilization to life?
Judging by his resume, the answer should definitely be positive. Townsend debuted in Lucasfilm's Industrial Light&Magic to work on the original Star Wars back in 1977. That wasn’t the only huge franchise he had a chance to put his stamp on, as among his later projects were The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible and Pirates Of Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.
Captain Marvel won’t be his first collaboration with Marvel Studios, either. The artist supervised the VFX on Captain America The First Avenger, Avengers: Age Of Ultron, this year’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 and Iron Man 3 for which he received an Oscar and BAFTA nomination.
