Bleeding Cool has spotted a Tweet from Punisher: War Zone and Supergirl director Lexi Alexander which seemingly reveals yet another filmmaker who is being considered by Marvel Studios to take the helm of Captain Marvel. Confirming that she personally isn't in talks to take on the gig, Alexander says that Rachel Talalay is. She's a director who has worked on Doctor Who, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow. It's also thought that she'll take the helm of the first episode of Sherlock season four.

Talalay also helmed cult favourite movie Tank Girl and the relatively obscure Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare. There's a possibility that Alexander has got her wires crossed here and that Marvel may have already passed on Talalay, but she's certainly a very interesting candidate. We'll just have to wait and see. For now, Inside Out's Meg LeFauve is writing the screenplay alongside Guardians of the Galaxy scribe Nicole Perlman ahead of Captain Marvel's eventual release on March 8th, 2019.

@mcminnjb1990 - Why does everyone say Catherine Bigelow when a female director is mentioned? That's like saying Steven Spielberg should direct every male superhero. There are more female directors out there

@GuardianAngel - sure there are more but she is one of if not the best. She has entertained superhero films before and Captain Marvel is a great fit.

@GuardianAngel - Catherine Hardwick would be interesting for a smaller character like a Batgirl or Ms. Martian

@mcminnjb1990 - Catherine Bigelows never directed anything LIKE a superhero movie. Her films tend to be more realistic and contain less CGI

@GuardianAngel - I Said she has entertained the idea of directing one. She has done action well and just because she hasn't had a huge amount of CGI doesn't mean she couldn't do it. She is brilliant and I have faith

@mcminnjb1990 - I just looked up some of her work... She definitely does a lot of military movies. That could be a pretty good dynamic for Captain Marvel.

@Kman - yeah that is why she would be my top choice. Captain Marvel is a military woman. So Bigelow would be a great fit for her.
