After endless speculation, it looks like Jude Law’s role in Captain Marvel will be the elusive Yon-Rogg after all, as confirmed by an official tie-in novel entitled “Starforce On The Rise”.
Law has been hesitant to divulge too many details about his role in the upcoming MCU installment, no doubt in conformity to Marvel’s feverish insistence on secrecy.

Initial fan theories predicted Law to be Mar-Vell or an original take on the character by fusing the two entities, but with official materials coming out ahead of the movie, more details are being revealed. That Mar-Vell rumor was quickly put down by merchandise leaks via action figures that named Law as Yon-Rogg. Whether or not he is a villain is left intentionally vague, as they want to poise the Kree as the protagonists and Skrulls as the bad guys. Fans of the comics will know it isn’t as black and white as that — and the film may take a similar narrative path.

Yon-Rogg isn’t what he seems, based on the trailers we’ve received thus far and it remains to be seen how the movie will interpret this beloved character, as well as the other Starforce commanders who are also not exactly allies of our titular hero in the source material.

Captain Marvel will fly into theaters on March 8, 2019, leading up to Avengers: Endgame, which will bookend the first decade of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

That's disapointing, if they are going to skip over a character to go with the next person to take up the mantle, at least include the original character in some role, back in the early 2000's there was a Flash script focused on Wally, but started the movie off with Barry's death

Maybe take that out of the title dude. Some people might not want to know that.

@ThePott - it just said his role was revealed. Didnt say what hes playing and even has a spoiler warning on it. We're getting too sensitive to spoilers anyway.

Either way, I still think he will essentially be an amalgam of Yon-Rogg and Mar-Vell.

I mean, he looks just like him.

That's the beauty of not being too familiar with the property - I have next to no idea what this means, so this does not spoil anything for me.

So I've been thinking about infinity war again and Dr stranges actions.

We know there were multiple ways thanos could have been stopped or killed primarily by strange himself. With the use of the sling ring to chop off his hand, send him into another dimension and multitude of others. Dr strange had his insight before the battle even begun and knew 14,000,605 different outcomes of the "coming conflict", one of which the avengers are supposed to win.
That is many many many different ways to lose to just thanos snap considering he could have been defeated in multiple timelines. Maybe winning in those other timelines against thanos still insured their defeat from something else and this is what Dr strange is attempting to prevent. Maybe the snap isn't what Dr strange was attempting to stop but something else further down the line.
I don't know if I made absolute sense haha

Or perhaps it's just the combination of characters leftover post snap that insures the final victory.

@Ace101 - I was wondering the same thing. Like if the snap had to happen for them to stop the next thing.

@Ace101 - I think you're really reaaaaallly onto something. I thought along these lines too but you explain it very well. I don't think THANOS is the universe's biggest threat. Dr. Strange tracks things even better than THANOS.
I DO think THANOS is the biggest threat of the decimation. He is the bringing of decimation, which is a force major enough for Observers to study. But for there only being one favorable future, it requires the Decimation to occur

@Vigor -While it sounds interesting I think a whole lot of you will be dissapointed by reaching so far on this. The entire line of movies from Marvel have always hinged on Thanos being the biggest threat there is, so big a threat Strange did not even know who he was. Infinity War was about Thanos and his Quest, Endgame will be about the heroes and their quest to undo what he did. It would be foolish of them to tack another baddie into the movie especially when they are already introducing some new heroes. No need to add to the heap.

@GreypilgrimXXX - you're probably right

@Ace101 -
Put simply 'Thanos is not the issue, the Infinity Stones and Gauntlet are'

The snap had to happen to damage the Infinity Gauntlet, sealing the stones inside the Gauntlet and preventing the Gauntlet from using the full power of the stones.

This is why it had to occur the way it did. They could have defeated Thanos in a variety of ways. Thanos is not the problem, the Infinity Stones and Gauntlet are.

@Ace101 - part of me really hopes that the deal will be completed and by undoing the snappening we'll see Galactus waking up due to all the life being brought back suddenly.

@sickboy76 - That is kind of dumb though and I do not mean to be mean. We do not need to see another bad guy add on. This movie will be the end of years of culmination and in my opinion should be the one Marvel movie to not have a credit scene.

Dude marvel was clearly trying to keep this on the down low, you could have at least had the decency to not include it in the title with a spoiler warning.

I haven't been following a lot of the details closely, but is there anything that says Mar-Vell could be Annette Benning's character? I theorized she might be playing Mar-Vell and is also Carol's Kree mother. But I haven't done a ddep dive into rumors on confirmations on this movie.

@JoeInTheBox - Doubtful. Benning's been listed as playing Supreme Intelligence.
