Agent Coulson Exclusive Reveal

A long time coming, a while overdue IMHO. Actor Clark Gregg is now part of the 616 Marvel Universe. Coulson will be revealed to be the long-time friend of Marcus Johnson, the long-lost son of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Nick Fury.

Special Agent Phil Coulson is a fictional character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which crosses over several Marvel Studios superhero films. Coulson first appeared as a member of the fictional agency S.H.I.E.L.D. in Jon Favreau's 2008 film Iron Man, where he was portrayed by American actor Clark Gregg. Gregg then signed a multi-film deal with Marvel Studios and reprised the role in Favreau's 2010 film Iron Man 2 and Kenneth Branagh's 2011 film Thor. Gregg also stars as Coulson in Joss Whedon's 2012 film The Avengers and be the subject of a series of short films and "digicomics". Gregg voices the character in the cartoon series Ultimate Spider-Man, where he is undercover as Peter Parker's school principal.

Coulson will make his Marvel 616 debut in the sixth and final issue of the Marvel Comics miniseries Battle Scars.

This feels ridiculously forced.

B/c it its. The movie universe is very popular so expect 616 Fury to make way for the new more ultimate like Marcus Johnson and Coulson to show up in more titles. I actually favor the idea. Makes sense fiscally and from a continuity perspective between their films.

It's great that Coulson is being introduced into the Marvel Universe, but giving Nick Fury a son (who ends up conveniently looking like Samuel L. Jackson) and a best friend who ends up being Coulson is just plain silly. If this is Axel Alonso's doing, I say bring back Joe Quesada.

How else can you make Nick Fury black (albeit that's pretty dark for someone that came from these two people).

I don't really see the necessity of this when the movie version was based off the Nick Fury from The Ultimates! If HE didn't exist, I'd totally get why they're doing this. I'm just not a fan of cheapening the content of the comics with downright idiotic ideas like this just to tie-in to the films!

Not a fan of Marc Johnson being so black yet White Nick Fury being his father.

He looked good when he was first presented, he looked Multi racial, now he just looks like Ultimate Fury in Captain Rogers Uniform....which also pisses me off....

Coulson though, hes bad ass.

There's a part of me that seriously wants to hate this, but...I'm oddly excited by it. It feels like the primary Marvel Universe is being expanded with ideas from outside sources. Harley Quinn first appeared in the comics, not the show, and she's a fan-favorite character in the comics now (not so much in the New 52, though).

Well, I like the idea that Agent Coulson is being introduced into the Marvel Universe (Earth-616), but I'm confused on one thing. Is that guy, the one with Couslon, supposed to be a new version of Nick Fury? Is he going to replace Fury as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Sorry, just a wee-bit confused. Thanks! :)

;P

Stay EPIC, my friends!

Also, not too keen on Marcus Johnson wearing Steve Rogers uniform. Just him wearing a S.H.I.E.L.D. uniform is okay with me. I think people will get pretty confused at first when they see this. Like they might confuse Marcus Johnson with the Ultimate Nick Fury. But, oh, well. We'll see. :)

Nick Fury has an Illegitimate child and he is black? I'm definitely for more diversity in comics but what the f**k is this? My guess is, Marvel will kill of Nick Fury and this Samuel L. Jackson look alike will run S.H.I.E.L.D with his buddy agent Coulson as his right hand man.

They really had no reason to do this....But hey whatever.

@Josh - Agreed. There was no need for that. Now we have a 616 character that looks like his father counterpart of the ultimates version but not his real... pffffffffttt ***BLAM!***

Why wouldn't they just bring him out in the ultimate universe instead?

I was okay with the Marc Johnson charter...until I just found out they turned him in to Ultimate Nick Fury!

...and pointless.

This is not pretty. At least not like the picture of the Avenger's ass shots. But, in ten or twenty years, it will either be a blip in Marvel history, or part of the future status quo (with a few old bastards still griping about missing "Ole white Nick Fury"). Providing the Mayans didn't make a doomsday clock that works, of course.

Stop retconning the original Fury for the ultimate universe version aka Samuel L. Fury!!!

Everywhere you look now when u see or type in Nick Fury. 98% is SLJ and 2% Is the original... What is this BS?!? Seriously NOT cool marvel. When I asked my younger cousin who Nick Fury is and I showed him a picture of both ultimate universe & the 616 Fury. He pointed to the Ult universe one and said who's the other one!!!

@jphoenix667

u already had Nick Fury u forget The Hoff played him

and of cause 98% will be SLJ cause his version of Ultimate Nick Fury is popular cause of the movies.

I don't mind him coming into the comics. Great character... although they killed him in Avengers so will Loki kill him in the comics sometime? At any rate I really like Marcus Johnson's comics "Battle Scars" it was just plain fantastic. IMO
