COMICS: Cover For Mark Waid's S.H.I.E.L.D. Features Fan Favourite Characters From The TV Show

It was revealed during this year's San Diego Comic-Con, that Mark Waid (Daredevil) would be launching a new S.H.I.E.L.D. series bringing many of the characters from the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series to the Marvel Comics Universe. Hit the jump to see who's made the cover of issue #1!

The first issue of S.H.I.E.L.D. goes on sale this December, and thanks to ComicBook.com, we have the cover for issue #1 featuring the Marvel Universe debuts of May, Fitz and Simmons. They're joined by Agent Coulson, a character who has been part of the comic books for quite some time now. It's not clear whether Skye and Agent Ward will be joining them, but the big appeal here is that unlike the ABC series, we'll get to see these guys interacting with everyone from Captain America to Spider-Man and Iron Man! Yeah I feel you on that. Although this is better than outright reconts(fury creating the first avengers team) and slick changes to character history.

I like that Marvel is actually making new heroes take over. Ms Marvel now a teen, Thor a girl(still doesn't make sense to call her Thor) Falcon the new Cap.

Hmms. Not a bad way to play it. SHIELD in the comics always has tons of nameless agents that could become someone, so having these characters show up would work. Does this mean Coulson in the comics isn't going to be with the Secret Avengers anymore?

To be honest, the kind of had to make new SHIELD Agents for the show. All of the old ones have been killed off lately: Dum Dum Dugan, Quartermain, Sitwell, Koenig, Gabe Jones, GW Bridge. It would seem male SHIELD agents are fairly expendable.

In New avengers right before fear itself. The sane story mocking bird got powers. The future story was pretty good, but the past sucked. Fury put a team together with sabertooth, namora, and a bunch of other randos. They fought hydra and a fake cap.
