COMICS: DC Planning Another Reboot To Fall In Line With Their Movies/TV Shows?

"The New 52" reboot back in 2011 was controversial to say the least, but it sounds like this summer is going to see another DC Comics relaunch, this time to make the comics more similar to the movies and TV shows! What other changes are being planned? Hit the jump for details...

Back in September 2011, DC Comics relaunched their comic book universe with 52 #1 issues and a brand new continuity which wiped away decades worth of history. Bleeding Cool has been saying for a while that the publisher has big plans for the summer, with titles changing names and some books going bi-weekly, but they're now reporting that another relaunch is set to take place with every title getting a new #1. To tie in with the movie, expected to see DC's books, "even more dominated with Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn/Suicide Squad-related titles. Anything tying in with a film and/or TV show like Flash, Green Arrow will be okay, anything that’s not is less so." While they don't specify whether this is a reboot or relaunch, it's interesting to wonder how all this could change the DC Universe. Are we getting an older Batman? Will The Flash be getting back-up in the form of Harrison Wells and Cisco? We'll just have to wait and see!

This is such a bad idea! i am not even that sure their movie universe is going to succeed. They really need to stop rushing in head first before they have seen any successes.

If they take it very seriously and actually have events within the comics be mentioned in the film AND help fill in loose gaps then I'd be all in for it. Of course they can still have other story events to inspire future storylines for films but I can't get mad at the idea of it's something that they want to be very faithful towards.

Are you unable to read? Nothing is happening to your CW shows.

What no, I thought DC was king of artistic freedoms where the greatest stories are told and would never fall in line to appease corporate control. I mean Marvel are the corporate lackeys and Disney the great evil.

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone here. I would even expect that after the dceu and cwverse have run their course (hopefully no time soon) that we'll get another crisis level event to start another continuity.

[frick] it, i'll stick with the 70 years worth of comics prior to New 52. Still lots to read.

I can see why they would do this. The New 52 was not bad, but DC took a dive after Convergence anyway, so Im okay with this.

So basically DC's plan is to do what Marvel's been doing for years?

I don't care. As long as Snyder/Capullo are still on Batman I'm good.

Is everyone really that surprised? Marvel and DC are always doing stuff like this. It's not something new and it's gonna continue.

This is why Hellboy comics are the best. Hellboy's been dead for 5 years and Mignola has no plans to bring him back. There's about 42 years of Hellboy career that hasn't been told from 1952-1994 that Mignola's now telling.
