COMICS: First Look At Marvel's Drastically Different Costume For SPIDER-WOMAN

Jessica Drew is finally getting a new costume, but it's a lot different to the suit we're all used to! With a drastically different appearance and a focus on street level crime for the superhero who was once replaced by a Skrull, big changes are afoot for Spider-Woman! Check it out...

Apart from a few short-lived variations, Spider-Man has had the same costume since his first appearance. The same can be said for Spider-Woman, but following her debut as a playable character in the Spider-Man Unlimited mobile game with a very different appearance (screenshots from the game can be found below), Jessica Drew will also be seen in the new costume in the comic books from March onwards. That will mark a different direction for the character as the focus turns to her being more of a street level superhero. "As much as I'm a fan of spandex and it has its time and place, I felt Jess as a character could move away from that for a good long while," says Spider-Woman editor Nick Lowe. "Spider-Man isn't really a detective — he swings around looking for trouble, whereas Jess needs to go and figure stuff out and dig things up, and you can't really do that head to toe in spandex very well." Thoughts on the new look for Spider-Woman?

I always thought of Jessica Drew as the real sex pot of the marvel universe, this costume doesn't really show that.

This is what happens when you let the vocal minority win. (I'm looking at you, Sony)

There are better ways of updating her costume and taking out the objectification while keeping it in tune with the classic look.

Cripes, it looks like that new hipster Batgirl costume

The art is terrible but the costume isn't all that bad. To be honest I think whenever she's adapted to in a live action film/tv series this would be the suit they would most likely use.

That is probably what they are thinking. Get everyone familiar with something a little more realistic and less revealing.

It looks like a lame ass jumpsuit. Marvel is getting a lot of artists, but very, very few good designers. It shows when they put out something like this, and it's like "we added Black to make him/her more edgy" mantra from the late 90's never died.

Changing the costume doesn't make her look more of a 'detective'. It looks uninspired and directly reminds me of....

I think this is a mistake their making.
