COMICS: Former WWE Superstar CM Punk To Pen DRAX Ongoing Series For Marvel

CM Punk left the WWE last year and is expected to make his debut in UFC at some point in the next twelve months. However, while he trains for the Octagon, Punk will be writing a new ongoing Drax series for Marvel. That means each member of the Guardians of the Galaxy are now headlining their own titles! He made his debut with the publisher with a well-received story in Thor Annual #1, and the book's editor had this to say about the news:

"CM Punk has proven that he’s the best in the world in the wrestling ring and now he’s out to prove he’s the best in the Marvel Universe. How could you not want to read this book? I couldn’t be more excited for readers to see what Punk has in store for Drax the Destroyer!"

The series will apparently take place everywhere from inside the intergalactic octagon to the far reaches of outer space, as we experience the bone-crunching solo adventures of the galaxy’s most fearsome guardian as he makes his way through the Marvel Universe. Can you spot all of the CM Punk Easter Eggs in Ed McGuinness' cover?

Why isn't Ed McGuinness's talent on a better character?

Marvel should have Soule and McGuinness take over Spider-Man.

Nice. I was worried Drax was gonna get left out of the Guardians love. (Star Lord, Rocket, Groot, and Gamora all having their own)

There's absolutely nothing homoerotic about studio wrestling.

^ Jeph Loeb on Captain America? Jeez. Cap just can't catch a break. First the Dimension Z bullshit, now this? Tim Sale deserves a better partner. And Marvel Knights? Cap is a Marvel Knight now? The [frick]?

Loeb/Sale wrote Captain America White years ago.

This isn't current Loeb writing it.

I thought he was pretty good in WWE. Someone who had that right charisma and edge, thought he'd absolutely be the new face of the company. But hey, if your heart aint in it, I can't be mad at the man.

Am envious that he's actually living out dreams of his though! Who can go from being dominant in one dream career and jump to the next, totally different career, in this case WORKING for Marvel comics as a writer. That's awesome!

It's "reins." Just sayin'. And I haven't watched wrestling since the 1980s, but it still seems weird to imagine a wrestler being a writer. But hey, more power to him.
