The frequent podcaster stated recently that he's turned down a number of high profile gigs including the Watchmen prequels and one of DC's New 52 titles. During his nationwide LIVE FROM BEHIND simulcast event, Smith did not reveal why he declined to write one of the Watchmen prequels or which title he was approached to write but he did reveal that at Comic-Con [take your pick as to which one, bleedingcool.com reports the Watchmen prequels have been planned for a LONG time] both Dan Didio and Jim Lee approached him about writing for the New 52 and the 'then-unnamed' Before Watchmen.

Smith apparently did state that he was leery of taking on the job because of the 'immense challenge in following in Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon's footsteps.'

Smith also went on to say that he DOES plan on finishing up Batman: The Widening Gyre and Daredevil: Targets at some point. Some day. Some where. Eventually.
