COMICS: Are The JUSTICE LEAGUE(s) Really Dead? JLA Writer Matt Kindt Reveals All

Matt Kindt and Doug Mahnke's upcoming Justice League of America arc will only feature Martian Manhunter and Stargirl, but the writer may have let slip exactly what has happened to the three Justice League teams. Did The Crime Syndicate really kill them? Well...

"I'm doing the next six issues, up until Jeff [Lemire] takes over [and the title becomes Justice League Canada]," Matt Kindt told Newsarama about his upcoming Justice League of America run which will see him put the spotlight on Martian Manhunter and Stargirl during the events of Forever Evil. "They're traveling across the country and the world has ended. In a way, it's like a post-apocalypse with all the villains having taken over. And then these two characters are running across the world trying to make things better and save the day and figure out what happened. So yeah, instead of being a big team book, it's going to be showing the aftermath [of Trinity War] then showing what happened to the rest of the [Justice League] team[s]. And then how these two escaped, and how they have to work together." Revealing that neither character will be fully powered as they make their way across America, Kindt confirmed that they are both on the DCU Earth and said, "The first issue and a half is them sort of breaking out of this crazy prison that they're in. And they have to figure out what they're in, why they're in it, and how to get out. So that happens." Whether that means the rest of the Justice League's are also in that prison remains to be seen, but despite The Crime Syndicate's claim that they've killed the Justice League, it's obvious now that they may instead just be held captive...either on this prison or Earth-3!

Martian Manhunter survives.

[frick] yea.

Also who believes the heroes are all dead? Bigger load of crap I've heard. They aren't all dead, the Justice Leagues aren't dead. DC wouldn't kill off all of there heroes for real so Geoff Johns can tell a story.

I strongly object to ANY headline that seriously (or "ironically") wonders if a dead character (or characters) will remain dead. I would rather that when a character dies, we all estimate the number of months in which the character will return.

I'm guess 3 months until the Justice League is back.

No chance that the League is dead and it's gonna be epic when they all come back and find out that they have to start from scratch on saving the world from evil.

I don't get why they have to change the name to Justice League Canada? Because last time I checked Canada was part of America. Just like Brazil, Mexico and so many other country's are too. Unless Canada moved to become its own continent it is still in America.

It is called Justice League America which should allow any member from North & South America into the team. Because it is not called Justice League USA. So I don't see the need for this name change. Just let these new members be apart of Justice League America instead of making their own team.

On a different note I wonder how the team up of Stargirl & Martian Manhunter will work.

Also if the last issue of Green Lantern Geoff wrote is canon then it already said the Justice League members would die & Simon Baz would meet the first female earthling GL and show her the ropes on being a GL.

I have a feeling that the league will return and work alongside there greatest enemies (Lex Luthor, Black Adam, Captain Cold and the rogues, Bizzaro, Sinestro, Black Manta and maybe Bane) to defeat the crime syndicate and the secret society... It seems that those particular villains will be the headliners of forever evil... Rpgues Rebellion, Arkham War (Bane) and the covers of Forever Evil showcase the rest of the villains...

They didn't die? Wow, I'm really surprised! What a twist! Really didn't see that coming! Imagine that, killing comic book characters and then bringing them back to life. Now THAT'S thinking outside the box and innovating. Well done DC.

Except for Aquaman, New 52 are the same old crap. Just wait until they bring the multiverse back to try and make sense of the continuity. Followed by a universe reboot every 5 years.

Ummmm we can't do shit about it?? We can stop buying the [frick]in comics for one and when sales drop drastically they will realize they made a mistake. But the only reason for the name changebis thry have a Canadian writing this shit. It won't last long

Really? Cuz u thought the heroes were really possibly dead right? So now we can breathe easy.

Of course we all knew they all werent dead, I mean, COME ON!!

Too bad for this book though, it had so much potential and started off so good.

A new JL. The most dangerous heroes. Martian manhunter, Hawkman, Green arrow. Even characters like Stargirl and Vibe were cool to see around.

Now theyre changing the whole roster, not the most dangerous anymore and theyre moving to Canada.

Screw this. I'm just debating whether to drop it now or wait until it officially changes to JL Canada.

Loving Forever Evil, Love Martian Manhunter, Justice League of Canada? No sir. All that being said, cannot wait to get on with this Forever Evil arc, between Trinity War, Forever Evil and Death of the Family, Marvel better step it up, Infinity is really good, but Marvel has not done any good arcs since Annihilation in my opinion.

Of course the Justice League is not dead. It's just that Otto Octavius has swapped minds with them and has formed the Superior Justice League. At least, they will be superior whenever Otto quits monopolizing Wonder Woman's body and hiding in the bathroom, doing god knows what.
