COMICS: First Look At Earth-2 DR. FATE

In the solicitation for Earth-2 #11 we get our first glimpse at the New 52's Dr. Fate but there will also be other heroes making their debut as well. I have one likely guess, continue on to see who I think it could be.

EARTH 2 #11
w: JAMES ROBINSON
a: NICOLA SCOTT and TREVOR SCOTT
cover: BRETT BOOTH and NORM RAPMUND
release date: APRIL 3
$2.99
• As Dr Fate emerges as the latest hero on Earth 2, what other heroes make a most unexpected appearance?

Based on past interviews with James Robinson, I have to believe at least one of the other heroes debuting will be Wildcat. There's also been very subtle hits at Hourman and Eclipso as well. We'll see if I'm right this April.

@TankD - How much did you read? Could you spill the overall synopsis from the time you dropped it?

Helmet AND high collar? Cape with shoulder pads? Knee-high boots? And all solid gold? It's DOCTOR FABULOUS! I see he also stole the diamond off the Vision's forehead.

If it's James Robinson, I'd put even money on a Starman showing up.

I love this series. One of the best in the New 52. I'm happy to see they didn't change dr. Fate as drastically as Alan Scott and jay Garrick. This looks GREAT!

"I wonder when/if DC goes back to classics?"

My guess: 2015-aka the 30th anniversary of CoIE.

The New 52 presented an opportunity for DC to clear up the convoluted continuity of their previous comics, so I think that was a good idea, and a lot of the comics have been very well received, particularly those written by Scott Snyder. However, I do think the big mistake DC made was moving all the golden age heroes (The JSA; Alan Scott, Dr Fate, etc) into their own parallel world like they were during the silver age. It seems like a huge step backwards in terms of making things easier for new readers to understand, and also means that any crossovers between characters on both worlds will have to resort to stupid gimmicks like traveling between realities. And it seems that they only put those characters on Earth-2 so that there was room to put all the Vertigo characters in the main universe, which is also kind of pointless; they could've all been in the same universe, or Vertigo could've remained separate rather than splitting up an established universe to make room for another.

Great look for Dr. Fate, without drastically changing the classic look of the character. Earth 2 is indeed one of the better books in the new 52. I like the multiverse and having the JSA on Earth 2. I didn't care for having all the heroes on one earth, too damn crowded. I feel the multiverse gives writers more room to be creative. I was a kid when I started reading comics and the different earths and heroes didn't confuse me. I always looked forward to the JSA/JLA crossovers. Cannot wait to see Hourman, always one of my favorite Golden age heroes.

i love the ascetic of Doctor Fate, and he always looks cool.

but have yet to find any Fate Solo stories that are that good.

him with the Jsa & the JLA usually provide though.
