COMICS: First Look At GREEN LANTERN "Lights Out"

Today DC Comics provided us with our first glimpse of Green Lantern #24, the first chapter of October's "Lights Out" event. Take a look at some interior artwork via some unlettered pages after the jump..

This event will span the pages of Green Lantern #24, Green Lantern Corps #24, Green Lantern: New Guardians #24, Red Lanterns #24, and conclude in Green Lantern Annual #2. Larfleeze will not be part of the crossover. I highly recommend that you pick up this week's Green Lantern #23.1: Relic because, not only is it a great read, it's also the unofficial prelude to the event.

“There are seven different colors of the emotional spectrum, each of them represented by their own corps. Green Lanterns wear rings powered by will, Red Lanterns rage, Yellow Lanterns fear, and so on,” GREEN LANTERN writer Robert Venditti told COMIC VINE. “For reasons none of the Lanterns are sure of, the rings have been malfunctioning lately. Enter Relic, a remnant of the universe before ours, who thinks he knows what's wrong with the rings and has a solution. Unfortunately, ridding the universe of every last Lantern is part of that solution.”

You can purchase this title October 2.

Why do I have a feeling this gonna end with just the GL's left or all
Corps operating under one umbrella as a multi colored corps?

No, he hates all the wielders of the light. He only wants to destroy all the Corps to prevent the destruction of the current universe.

@Firgosauras: Not exactly. Imagine what someone like Ra's al Ghul would do if he had the ability to work on a cosmic scale. Relic is a guy that really believes he is doing the right thing by destroying all the corps because he's seen what the harnessed power of light is capable of. Read his Villains Month story. I don't want to spoil too much for you.

@ Firgosaurus

Actually he kind of is like Galactus in some respects. He is a survivor of the universe before this one. The emotional corps of that universe basically drained it dry and it was destroyed. They don't exactly say he was at the source wall when the universe was ending, but ... he was at the source wall when the universe was ending. We was absorbed by it and spit back the current universe, but like Galactus, he incubated for millenia. So in that respect he is very much like Galactus. But his purpose in life is to make sure that what happened to his unviverse doesn't happen to this one.

I feel like the Third Army just ended...

anyway, this does looks pretty awesome. The GL comics are the only ones that can pull off so many crossovers

@3DWitchHunt: It's been pretty good so far. I've read only the main GL title though. One thing I can say about Venditti is that he's a writer that is definitely going to add to the mythos in a big way.
@CeltiC527: I'm the only one who has run this particular preview. It's possible that someone ran a penciled or ink only one a while back. We tend to get various stages of previews. We're about a month out from this particular book's release, so we're fortunate to get pages that are fully colored. A lettered preview should be made available less than a week before a book's release.

@3DWitchHunt I've been reading all of the books and they've been pretty good. Very cosmic, great art, a lot of character development not just a crapton of rainbow laser action. I like Johns as much as the next guy, but I slightly prefer the direction these guys are taking the GL books. Only problem is that Red Lanterns took a little while to get up to Soule's writing level.
